they brought mike iv to a basketball game but he was a small cub when they got him. VI was huge when we got him at a year old.

I think he means out of his cage, literally "on" the field

I'm not sure I'd want to be the "Snack" holding the leash.

no, I'm pretty sure they want to keep everyone on the field alive...plus it's probably a clause in their insurance policy

He was a cub, like dog size at the time

Actually I think this mike supposedly was a house pet prior, so he probably has had a lot of up close human interaction. The game day situation might unhinge him, but I don't know that he would maul one of his handlers.

It's Christians & lions - not Tigers.
Sorry, just couldn't pass it up.

They have brought tiger cubs to games in the past, but none named Mike AFAIK.

Mike V was introduced when he was very young and still teething. I think there is a picture someplace of him being played with by Athletic Dept Administrators in the late 80's I belieive.

In the 70's, Mike IV was somehow released by Tulane fans in the middle of the night as a 'prank.' Mike was tranquilized and captured as he was prancing on the field of the Bernie Moore Track Stadium, not being a danger to anyone.

In 1982, the costumed 'Mike' chased around a Florida State Seminole 'mascot' (LSU student poser), and grabbed his 'spear', broke it in half over his knee and laid on top of the 'Seminole' for comic affect. Death Valley, esp. the student section where it happened right in front of - went bonkers.
The FSU fans just looked on in horrific, anticipatory dread
We won 55-21....
