Chris Christie in for 2012!!!

Well not yet... but close

quote:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned.

During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary.

These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

A source familiar with the meeting suggested that Christie seemed inclined to enter the race but said he needed more time.

Sounds like code for making sure the skeletons can stay buried.

What new information could he possibly be waiting for? frick him, I want a more decisive President than this. If he has plans to ever be a Presidential candidate, he'd better nut up and show that he's not prone to dragging his feet on important decisions.

He has said over and over he wasn't going to get in but when everyone begins to falter like they are and the big wigs come to you asking you to run, you have to reconsider.

He's in NJ... I'm pretty sure all of his skeletons are out with how he has approached the unions up there.

All the Not-Romney support will shift to Christie if he gets in this. Let's hope he does. He would also easily trounce Obama.

The way things are going, I'm really worried about Obama's chances. I could be down with Christie because he will not not (at least I hope and don't think he will ) pander to the religious right wingers. If he's smart he won't and he will get a lot of the moderate independent IMO.

he wont win one state in the southern R primaries if he doesnt change his tune.

he is not automatic. he has to run, debate and take positions.

Wait til he's standing up there, telling his truth to a national TV audience. southerners are going to faint.

At least we have not yet got the guy who held up a Bible and demanded that all the R contestants swear that they believe ever literal word in the bible.

re: Chris Christie in for 2012!!!

kissinger inquires whether I would vote for Christie.

I will reserve judgement. I have only heard him speak a couple of times. I appreciate that he appears to have got NJ on a good financial footing. As we all should know by now, Presidents do not make the budget, except in the case where the R's own both houses and then the White House could and in the case of Bush43 and his puppetmaster Cheney, did write the bills and demand fealty and that they were passed without most R's getting to read it at all.

The whining by the R's that they were not totally in the know about some of the D's bills is disingenuous. Bush/Cheney did not even include most R's in their bill writing, counter to the checks and balances we all know and love.

The biggest problem people of all persuasions have with Obama and with Carter too, is that they did not write the bills. That is, the people want to know what the bill will be before it is agreed upon. Pelosi's statement that they had to pass it before we can discuss what is in it, was true of the Dems. The White House did not write the bills for Pelosi and Pelosi allowed the process to unfold essentially as it is usually done, by committees.
The bills were written by members of Congress and included parts written by the usual powerful few in Senate and House, but not Obama. The meek want a powerful president who will show up with a bill and shove it down the Congress's throats.
Obama does not do that, although we do indeed have a HC bill with a mandate in it, it was passed by a Congress with the direct help and input of some Republicans, BECAUSE THERE WERE NEVER 60 US Senators of D persuasion during the entire Obama administration due to long count in Minnesota and then the deaths of WV and Mass old senators. So.... Republicans were instrumental. It was not thus during Bush 43's first 6 years.
The entire thing was by command. No writing of bills without express permission of the W.H.

so. I will wait and see if Christie even really runs, before I try to learn what he has said in his campaigns and to the press while gov. All I know is that he arm wrestled the unions over the budget and won. How that would translate when Congress arm wrestles back is yet to be determined. I would not count on him being able to arm wrestle any Senators. they can stonewall anything. one senator can close down washington if he wants to.

If it happens, it'll be funny as hell to see Christie's run so quickly do to Perry, what Perry's did to Bachmann.

And yeah, Obama's in real trouble if he does: Christie's candidacy has the potential to pull independents as such to render the Southern Evangelicals nigh-irrelevant (which to me, would be the single greatest thing he could do for the GOP, winner or not!!), seeing as they're not going to vote for Obama anyway.
