I'm thinking they will have to create turnovers because I lack confidence they will have many 3 and outs.

Guessing you missed the signing of Greg Williams a few years ago as defensive coordinator.

Mainly because of the D ENDs and outside LBs and throw in Romans coverage skills and injuries at cornerback. Also with the new faces on D will take a few games to gell.

based on the lack of tackling in the pre-season - I can understand the OP's quyestion and point of view - however I know that when the reg season starts, its a whole new gear and we will be ok.

ya didn't know the team's success hinged on Slapouttiger's confidence? Ask Vilma.

I base nothing on the preseason. There is a poster that kept saying "I'll be worried on Sept. 8th if the tackling is bad". I'm with him on that one.

Thank god you shared this. Please keep us posted on any future feelings you may have towards the Black and Gold and I'll be sure to forward them to Coach Payton.

I'm not overly concerned about having Will Smith, Cam Jordan, McBride, Gallete, and Charleston as our DE's. Cassillas and Shanle are servicable at LB and Wilson should make an impact somewhere along the season. LB is not a strength I know but the DT's and Vilma will help out a lot.

Romans coverage skills

he makes up for his lack of coverage with his blitz and run support. Jenkins is a beast in coverage anyways.

injuries at cornerback

what injuries?

Tackling is terrible in the NFL on the whole anyway. The no wrap up missile tackle is one of the worst things ever in football.

That being said, even though the preseason tackling was off and on for this team, in the first and last games the guys who count were making solid stops. Even cornerbacks. I'm not all that worried.

And I'm not worried about the scheme, either. They were the most vanilla of vanilla on defense in the preseason.

GTFO of here Negative Nancy! Try watching real football for a change instead of exibition shite where the players are trying not to get hurt, then come here with your falling skies bullshite. I'm sick and tired of every year hearing you "fans" bitch when the exibition games don't go the way you'd like them.

The trick to beating the Saint's defense is holding up to the constant array of blitzes coming from completely random places. At this point, they can't get to the QB with their front four, but they have a great secondary, and one of the best middle linebackers in the game.
