Just checking to see if anyone has been to Todd English's bluezoo in Disney World (at the Dolphin Resort)...

Overrated? Or worth it?

We want to pick at least one place to completely splurge on..this, so far, is our choice.

Yeah, I've been, but it was several years ago.

I'd describe it as good, not great. Probably a little overrated.

If you want to splurge, I'd suggest the California Grill at the Contemporary.

Most Disney places are not as good as their ratings or price, but certainly not horrible. The only truly good meals I have had there, after half a dozen lengthy trips, are the California Grill, believe it or not Cinderellas Castle, Shulas, and to some extent the Brown Derby. Everywhere else on the property, and ive tried most, have underwhelmed me. Not that the others were bad, just not anything that macthed the presentation, excellent service and price

California Grill,
Is that hte steakgouse in the Polenesiun(sp) Hotel? If so, outstanding. Also, Canada in epcot has a steakhouse that is superb.

Looks like we have some disney veterans in this thread. I have a quick question - anyone know of a good spot to eat dinner and see illuminations (epcot) at the same time?

I just wanted to avoid Shulas since you can do that in other cities..

China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morroco.

One of the best steak restaurants, Canada, is not a good place for viewing but damn good for eating!

Those restaurants are good, but I've been impressed by the fancier restaurants in Epcot center. Usually every showcase has two places to eat, a fancy place and a regular place.

I've liked Morocco, France, Canada, and Japan.

Best Places to eat in Disney are Le Cellier in Epcot Canada, California Grill in the Contemporary Resort, and Narcoossee's in the Grand Floridian Resort. My top choice would be Le Cellier because they have great steaks but Narcoossee's and California Grill have great places to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom along with good food.

As for Bluezoo, my wife and I stayed at the Dolphin Hotel but never ate at Bluezoo. We passed by often and the place never looked really busy. Seemed a little over priced as well.

Only problem with Le Cellier is that it's on the Disney Dining Plan, so expect to make reservations several months ahead of time.

Can't go wrong with Ohana in the Polynesian.

It does seem a bit pricey, but the menu looks really inviting. The people I go there with enjoy the buffet at Germany, which I don't mind at all. Nothing wrong with meat and beer. Never did the steakhouse at Canada, but I have enjoyed Norway.

I was to eat at a luau at the Polynesian, but a cold snap of 30 degree weather cancelled the event.

Le Cellier is the best of the rest, but IMO not nearly as good as the few I mentioned. I ate there and was underwhelmed, clearly a lot better than a outback or something like that, but not to the level of the Cali Grill. I have not eaten at the Floridian restaurants but have heard they are also excellent.

We ate at Bistro de Paris last year and had a decent view of the fireworks display. The place was almost empty at the end of the night so we had a table at the window. It's one of the only restaurants in epcot on the second floor. It's probably not the best view, since there were some trees in the way, but it wasn't the worst either. Atmosphere was great, service was excellent, and while some dishes were exceptional, overall the food didn't wow me as much as I expected.

When we left, we didn't see a sould in the park on the way out. It was nice but eerie.

The problem with this trip is that we are limited on time..We get there Wednesday - so we wanted to splurge that night, since LSU plays Mississippi State on Thursday (we'll end up at the ESPN Zone on The Boardwalk to watch the game..so no splurging on a good meal that night, hah)..We fly out Saturday. My only two nights to "make it count" if you will, are Wednesday and Friday.

There's some good suggestions in here though. Things to look at and think about. Just wasn't sure if bluezoo was worth the money..
