Well she didn't know at the time. 5 days later he is sick and we are at the Emergency VET (saturday) he has PARVO.

Question. She did not take him for his 4 day check-up and waited until the 5th day to check him. The paper work states there is a 4 day window for check-ups. Shouldn't they check for Parvo before they sell a dog?

So do I have a fight? Can the paperwork ( she signed) be over turned to either A: pay for the VET (1500$ in) or B: Refund the price of dog if he dies?

OB what do I do? Should I go in there screaming or take a calm approach asking for them to do the right thing.
This is obviously a puppy mill dog, but we have had rescue dogs before that died with-in a week or two cause they were too sick to make it. I have spent so much at a VET it is sickening.

Place was PetLand in Frisco, TX.

I know you never buy a dog from there, but I wasn't around and she went rogue on me and bought one anyway.

Incubation period for parvo is 5 days so.....

And no, they don't just routinely check for parvo. I'd call said puppy mill and tell them. Chances are they'll replace the puppy, but that's probably about it.

Tell the puppy mill that they can refund the money on the dog or you will call the humane society, cops, and local news station.

i'd take the calm approach and get your money back. Then i'd unleash holy hell on them in the form of any humane and consumer advocacy group who will join in. Isn't PetLand notorious for this shite? I'd burn 'em as much as possible.

They're a national chain with plenty of money. It's not like you're costing an individual hundreds of dollars to replace the animal.

I am over in Allen, who is your vet? If you do not have someone yet, we really like ours and they are VERY reasonable. Hope it all works out for you guys and the little guy makes it.

There is alot of misinformation in this thread. First of all Petlands are not a national chain with lots of money. Petland Corporate is located in Ohio and most of the stores are individually owned. (Franchised)

Most, if not all Petlands do not buy from puppy mills, at least not intentionally. They spend lots of money on their stores, and they know that having a great supplier of puppies is important. Sure, there may be a few bad stores out there, but I'm telling you most are not buying from these puppy mills intentionally.

To the OP, go talk to the owner or manager of the Petland calmly but assertively. If you are not taken care of, call Petland Corporate. They hate getting calls from customers if the owner of the store does not take care of the customer and usually do a good job of scolding said owner.

BTW, sis you take the puppy to Petland's Vet or your own? Just curious.

Sorry for the issues you are having.

Parvo is very bad this year sofar per my daughter. She had 8 cases sofar that she took in. 7 of the dogs lived. Not bad with the meds they have now, but cost big bucks for sure.

Never buy a dog without all its shots and at least 8 weeks old.

My daughters Christmas Puppy that Santa brought her 2 days later at the vet with Parvo.Vet said it was in the mid stages and treatment was a %30 chance she would survive.

Fast forward 1 1/2 years later.

Absolutely the coolest little girl.

Glad we saved her.

She took him to Plano Energancy vet Custer & 121. I was not there so she knew that way to that one. So they will argue with me about not going to their Emergancy vet.

We do have a vet Dr. Hickman in McKinney (virginia parkway) We have been with them for 8 years now.

so Vet called and he will come home today with some oral medication. Good News. I am off half friday and will visit Petland. I will post with results.

hopefully I answered all the question. Thanks for the info and concern.

Didn't see the post above. The is a good story. Cool fishing dog!

I had a litter of eight puppies and they just started to get sick, and started dying quickly, I saved 2. We feed them pedialyte and potted meat, until they could eat. One was never right after that the other one just died last year, he was 16 yrs old, died from old age.

The guy I bought my house from forgot to tell me he had a very bad parvo outbreak. I gets in the ground. Also, for some reason it didn't show up in the home inspection. I cleaned everything with bleach and gave them their shots, kept them on cement and never lost another one.

Damn home inspector.

Good to know, we have called the emergency vet once or twice after frog ingestions and mild new owner panics when she was acting wierd. Usually pretty solid people.

McKinney is nice. we are on the West side, so our kids are Frisco ISD and we are McKinney address. I work inPlano (10 miles) so it is real nice and convientent.

As for the DOG. he came home yesterday with amoxocilion - SP? and Metaclopromide - sp? ( for nausea) Eating a teaspoon of food every hour. Didnt eat last night, but this morning he ate food and my wife called and said that he is howling and wanting to play. Hopefully we have gotten over the hump. maybe.
