Ideas for air conditioning a garage with no windows (Posted on 7/3/11 at 5:37 pm)
I'm thinking of turning my garage into a man cave but I'm trying to figure out how to cool the garage with some type of ac unit. I know they make those portable ac units but I don't know much about them. Don't they require some type of exhaust to the outside? I'm not sure how I would pull that off if they do because both walls, aside from the garage door, are brick. Any ideas?

Before you go adding ductwork you have to make sure your house ac can cool that extra room. That or you can install electronic baffles that open with a switch to add air when you want it. Best thing in my opinion would be cut the brick and frame out for a window unit. Get a 220 unit. When wall is open pull another run of wire to your panel and add a circuit. Prob best to get a an electrician to do that. You don't want to undersize you r mancave. A friend added two 12" ducts to his garage and still ended up having to install a window unit.
