How crowded does the columns get?

bouligny tavern, oak, cure, phillip's, balcony, bulldog, evangeline 2, calumns, delechaise are always solid choices.

columns shouldn't be too, too packed. in the spring and fall it gets pretty tight on a friday though.

I went to Bouligny Tavern not too long ago and I don't know what I think about that place. Cool bar, good bar food, but I generally dislike bars that feel as though there is an unspoken dress code. Pretty nice tail running around but a little on the yuppy side.

just wondering.

easier to give a recommendation if you are a 22 year old looking to binge drink or a 28 year old looking to sit and have a few cocktails

I was at the Bulldog on Canal yesterday around 6 and it was pretty damn crowded.

Options are plenty. OP should tell us what part of town and what kind of place you want to visit.

way crowded..prob 4 or 5 deep at the bar right now. i'd skip it and find somewhere else to go.

Not a bar...but a few doors down at New Orleans Hamburgers very cheap fish bowls if you want to get fricked up. But we need more info from OP.
