Never knew there was any story...Archie grew up not too far from Oxford, so why would he leave Mississippi for LSU?

this, however you can't pull him and Ollie away from their St. Charles st crib. Drew, MS. just don't fit their life style.

During the time of Peyton, most of the LA blue chips would either go to better SEC schools or to Miami.

Ely followed daddy's footsteps which I don't have a problem with.

This, and the fact that the Manning family HATES LSU.
Not how we always joke that ESPN hates LSU, they have a real, deep-seated hatred of LSU that all older Ole Miss grads have.
We are Ole Miss' traditional #1 rival and have cost them at least one MNC and probably a few others.
Moo State is their baby brother school.
Us, they hate. There was zero chance of any of the boys going to LSU just like there is zero chance that Cooper's son (who I hear is pretty good) will consider LSU.

I have never been a fan of the mannings for that reason and I thought it was very fitting when Eli was going through the draft that he refused to go to the chargers. At the same time this spoiled, snooty kid refused to go to the chargers Pat Tillman turned down millions to go die for his country. Pat Tillman will always be my favorite athlete and should be held in higher reverence than some punk private school kid from newman, who hates Lsu. I respect Peyton as a football player but hate the mannings.

Here we go.... Posts like this are retarded, these two things have no correlation. Archie was driving the San Diego ban, not Eli. Eli is a very humble good kid.

I can't hate the Mannings just because they hate LSU. They're Ole Miss people, they're SUPPOSED to hate LSU.
My best friend feels the same way you do. I always hear him say "fricking Archie Manning made all his money in New Orleans and he can't send his kids to LSU!" as if Archie owed LSU something. That makes no sense.
If it makes you feel any better, I walked out of '03 LSU-Ole Miss game right next to Archie and he was crying like a bitch.

Good question. I've always wondered why Bert Jones didn't go to Ole Miss.

I love these threads.
And yes, I get that you were joking, it is some of the other ignorant shite that gets posted in a Manning thread that cracks me up.

Bert Jones is from Ruston. His dad started out at LSU before finishing at Tulane. I doubt Mr. Dub would have liked for his son to play at LSU's most hated school.

It would be no different for most LSU alums and former players; it wouldn't fit for their offspring to go to Ole Miss or Alabama to play. Nobody should wonder why Manning kids didn't go to LSU - but for Peyton to go to Tennessee is almost an Ole Miss sacrilege too.
