I'm sick and tired of reading this from the national press. No one gives Miles or his staff any respect. If it was so easy, then why haven't we always been a perennial power?

For all his apparent shortcomings on Saturdays, LSU coach Les Miles has built one of the best programs in the country. Then again, with LSU's fertile recruiting grounds and vast resources, it's hard not to win in Baton Rouge.

Well in the event that Les leaves, I hope a lot of top notch coaches think what they're saying.

He has to get credit for the level of recruitment. He has cherry picked a lot of outstanding talent from out of state that has kept us as a top 10 program

This is TRUE statement. Talent heavy state with NO in-state competition for the elite players

I agree. Winning in this conference at any school is not a simple task. Even though there is a lot of talent to be had in LA, it's hard to recruit against the other Juggernauts to the east of us. Not to mention we have to play against some of the toughest school week after week. So, yeah, Coach Miles's job is not an easy one.

Agreed. It’s not meant to take anything away from Les, but LSU is arguably the easiest place in the country to win outside of Texas and maybe USC. Just because you’ve had horrible coaches in the past doesn’t diminish the fact that you have tremendous facilities, a rabid fanbase, the top conference, and one of the most talent-rich states in the nation without a single instate school to fight with.

I'm not saying it's more difficult than Ole Miss or Kentucky, but like Leslie said, many of our premier players come from out of state anyway. (Patrick Peterson comes to mind)

This is not a knock on Les. He has done a great job of keeping the in state guys. As did Saban before him.

I agree that we have pulled some studs from OOS, but our core group is La products and guys with ties to La and LSU.

IMO, that statement is very true. I always felt that if we could just get our kids to stay here, we would be a good program for a long time. And now we are, props to saban and partly Gerry D for putting up that fence.

Now its just about keeping it up.

The idea that its easy to win at any SEC school is a ridiculous notion. It'd be pretty easy to argue it's easier to win at Ohio State, USC, and Texas.

Disagree slightly that our CORE is from La.

The media is dumb as a stump when it comes to statements like that.

Stovall, Archer, and Dinardo could not win consistently in Baton Rouge, Hallman could not win at allllllllllllll....

we have just as fertile recruiting grounds for basketball, but look at that program.
the best football players in this state, more than likely go to LSU.

Proves having a fertile recruiting ground does not mean you are going to win games

Everyone wants to give Les a ton of credit as a recruiter and I am not saying he isn't a excellent one. But lets face facts a half brained monkey could sign a good class at LSU. If Curley Hallman could sign good classes pretty much anyone can. Its what you do with the players once they get on campus and in my opinion Miles has done one hell of a job. The most idiotic bullshite I ever heard was the arguement that Miles won with Saban's players. Except for maybe one or two the players that won the 2007 National Championship that were Saban signees never even saw the field under Saban. Them players coached and developed under Les Miles. The fact that Saban recruited these players had zero to do with their success 4 years later.

We are 14-10 in the SEC the last 3 seasons. That is not exactly a winning big. Nobody is questioning Les can recruit, but he is running one of many very competitive programs in the SEC. Winning in this conference is not easy. There are many very good coaches as well.

Thank you Ryan Perrilloux :(

However, how many of those 10 SEC losses the last 3 years has LSU been outclassed, routed, annihilated or been completely out of ??????????

Only 2 that I know of: Ole Miss '08, and Florida in '08.

How about going all the way back to '05 ?????:
Georgia in '05 SECCG, plus the above 2 in '08.

I guess you could say there have been a few other SEC losses since '05 that LSU was in most of the game but came up short with not a good chance to win:
Florida in '06, Georgia in '08, Bama in '09, and
Florida in '09.

So, all in all, since Miles arrived in '05, LSU has been outclassed with absolutely no chance of winning in only THREE SEC games (and THREE GAMES OVERALL, SEC or OOC):
'05 SECCG vs UGA, '08 Florida, and '08 Ole Miss.

And four more that we were in but could not come back:
Fla in '06, Georgia in '08, Bama in '09 (thanks refs), and Florida in '09 (Thanks refs again.)

Yeah that's why there's so many titles here. History doesn't back you up AT ALL.

LSU should have been one of the top programs since integration. LSU is just now reaching a level they should have always been at. No reason why Alabama or Florida should have been that much better all those years.

I'm guessing you started watching LSU in the 90's cuz LSU is in the top 12 in wins and top 10 in all-time ranking......ahead of Florida in both
