I know it's not quite over yet but this has been the craziest season in years.

- The Miami Threeat
- Blake Griffin
- The first entertaining dunk contest in quite a while
- Rose winning MVP
- Grizzlies surprising run in playoffs
- End of an era with Spurs losing in first round, Lakers getting swept and Phil Jackson's retirement
- Dirk's dominance in the playoffs

-The Rise of OKC

It's been a great season, and even though this isn't Lakers vs Heat, in a way it's better. So many players hungry to get a ring.

I think it depends how it ends. Dallas winning would look a lot better than Miami. The underdog is always a better story.

]I don't get this. They were the one-seed. I would not be surprised if they were a top four seed next year and made it to the second round or better.

There were some mid-1980s years where the Lakers, Celts, Pistons, Bulls, Blazers, Rockets, Sixers, Hawks, etc..

With some very complete teams, I found it to be much more enjoyable than today's game, despite today's speed, range, individual dribble-drive skillset, and athleticism.

I was more so referring to both the Spurs and Lakers losing in convincing fashion, the two teams that have dominated the West for the past decade.

it was quite the yawner

this was the least basketball I've watched since becoming a fan of the sport

the dunk contest was a joke ... it was pretty much decided who was going to win before the event even happened and they still act like the Griffin dunk 'over the car' had never been done before

I didn't watch much of the season, so it would be hard for me to rank it as one of the greatest ever.

how would any of these things make it one of 'the best seasons ever'?

You just listed things that could happen in any season.

Yea, this season was a little above average. Nothing special.

And the playoffs weren't that great to me either. A lot of series that I was anticipating ended up being short ones.

I think these playoffs have been exceptional. Not a lot of blowouts, close games with amazing shots and epic comebacks.

Epic comebacks or epic choke jobs? The conference finals were both short and basically decided after 4 games. There seems to be a million fouls in each game slowing down the pace of play to a crawl.

As a general rule, I dislike "back in the day" syndrome, but I have to agree with this. 1980s NBA was so much more exciting than today's game. I think if you dropped the mid-80s Hawks into 2011, they'd be one of the very best teams, and they were sort of an afterthought in that era.

And if these are the most exciting NBA playoffs ever, the league should fold. BTW - it's not. Two 5-game conference championship series ain't the stuff of which legends are made. Though I am very excited for the Heat-Mavs Finals.

This. I've enjoyed the playoffs, but there haven't been a lot of good series. I'm also really pumped about the Finals, and think that will be a great series.

Also, another comment on Griffin's dunk...it was weak shite that he jumped over the hood of the car. Every time I see the super slow-motion commercial, it pisses me off that people hype it up so much.
