and are you aware of what it takes and what is done to take a 2 inch cut of meat to well done?

Curious, because I've known a few people in my life who actually prefer a well done steak, and not sure they are aware of what kitchens do to make it well done.

What could one possibly get out of a well done steak that you can't get from a piece of beef jerky? I don't understand it at all.

Only at the nice places, with the fancy ketchup. Like Ruth's Chris or Fleming's.

My dad does, cause he likes it that way, why do people worry so much about how other people eat?

That's awesome. I bet they love you.

Hey, do you get peeks from the kitchen after you order it?

Yes, because I'd have to punch myself in the face if I ever really ordered anything past medium rare.

Cause, when I'm out drink'n Bud Light runn'n my nets, I want jerky, and when I'm taking people that are special to me out to some nice steak place, like Applebees or Chilis and sippin on higher priced and higher class stuff like Kewrs Light, I want my steak cooked well done.. If I'm paying that much for a steak, I, at least want them to cook it all the way. With a piece of undercooked steak, from a fancy place, you don't get your moneys worth...

My sister refuses to eat anything other than well done.

The last time I had the whole family over for dinner, I decided to grill steaks. I told everyone that they would all be either rare or medium rare. She refused to eat it. I refused to ruin a good steak. So I threw some frozen chicken tenders in the oven for her like I would a 12 year old.

No, because you will have a thick black crust and burn it up before it's cooked to well done, and if you throw a thick piece of meat in the oven it will take too long so most just throw it in the deep fryer. It's a slap in the face to a nice steak to do that to it, but hell, unless you have a half hour to an hour to finish a steak, and your friends/family don't mind waiting, then you have to expedite it as effeciently as you can, so into the oil it goes.

exaggeration.

It doesnt really take that much longer to go from medium well to well done anyway.

sure places will throw it in the deep fryer or use a microwave. this will depend on a lot of things, all restaurants are not created equally.

AreJay, this isn't about knowing how to cook versus not knowing how to cook. It's about what happens to a steak when you leave it on the fire too long. The mid rare and medium steaks are just right, and now leave that other steak on the fire long enough to cook it through and through like a roast and you're going to burn the shite out of it. Don't believe me, try it at home.

bullshite it doesn't AreJay. I'm not pulling this out my arse. It's just the way it's done. It's already an abomination to order it well done, so I guess might as well go full all out fail.

And no restaurant has jedi magic powers that they use to cook a 1 1/2 to 2" cut of meat to well done without either a lot more time or a quick fix answer.
