Taking my son for a long weekend camping trip. Just planning some fishing on the lake & not much else.
Tempted to look into boat/kayak/bike rental while we're there.
Never been to the park. Any advice on "must do" stuff? Things to avoid?
Thanks for anything you got!

Well, depending on what you are comfortable with I would do more primitive camping and less of the other camp sites/cabins. There are far fewer people in the primitive sites. I would avoid renting a boat. The lake is pretty small, and half of that lake is like 3 feet deep. We did better bank fishing in the pockets. Just relax, cook some good food, and enjoy.

If you have a handheld GPS, there are 4-5 geo caches hiddend within the park. Some are only a short walk from the car while others are several miles back into the trails.
If you've never done it before, it's like an outdoor easter egg hunt on a large scale. The kids love it.
It's free to do. Just go to geocache.com and type in Percy Quinn, or the ZIP ocde of that area in the search field and it will give the coordinates and some clues to enter into your gps. If you ahve an I phone, there's a geo chache app you can buy.
We had several familes there and we broke up into teams with each of us trying to find the same 4 caches, but in a different order and then race back to the cabin. Adding the race element was a blast. each group could not find one that the other groups could find.

I like the race element to the geocaching TW2. Will have to try that

On the edge of the swimming area you can hand feed small fish while wading in the water. We used hot-dog weannies broken into small pieces. The kids loved it!
This was years ago but I assume the fish are still around.

If your gonna be bank fishing beware of gators. when we were little we would play in the clay along the bank and I remember this 1 time some little girl was playing along the bank and was attacked by a gator but her dog saved her life. gator got the dog though
