Making a trip Friday afternoon. Looking for some sac-a-lait/bream. Any good spots/what to use for this? Will be my first trip in this lake to fish.

Careful if the wind kicks up, Verret can get rough quick

Hit the willow canal with some grass shrimp or crickets. Pretty easy to get to for a first timer. And you should have decent results this time of year.

You are going to be land locked there with south winds 15-20kts. Waves will be crashing over the rocks and into the parking lot of the launch

you need to change your plans. Either launch in bayou corne and fish bay alcide. Or belle river area. You will have issues Friday and Saturday in the lake. However... That landing is protected with a north wind

Yea launch at Bayou Corne and fish the canals to the north of the lake you wont have to deal with the wind or launch at Dorion's and fish the Stephenville canals...

Thanks for the advice. Make sense not to launch anywhere south of the lake. Next question...where is Bayou Corne? Also I would assume there is a public launch in Pierre part on the North side of the lake.

Magazille area usually does good for bream and sacs.

First canal after the gator corner 69/70 junction. Landing is on the left of the rd. They were catching a lot of bream and sacalait a few months back. I'd imagine you could catch all you wanted to and be protected. The landing has been loaded with boats for quite a while now...
If you must fish the lake there is a launch off 70 across from the church (right after you cross the big bridge on the left) called bayside

Bayou Corne is a good place to launch. You can catch lots of bream and sacs in that area that leads up to Verrett. Water has been muddy lately in that area though. It's on HWY 70 on the left side of the road.

I usually launch in Pierre Part Bay at Gaudets. It's on N Bay St or 1015. It's just an old lady that has a launch in her front yard.

shite the entire system was muddy a few weeks back. I haven't been down there in a couple weeks. Corne was still pretty though. Shame it muddied up too. Has anything started clearing up yet?

Eta: I usually launch there too if I decide
to trailer around (if I know thats the only place I'm going to fish) I figured bayside would be easier for him to find

I was going to launch there two weekends ago, but it was muddy as hell. Put in at Pierre Part Bay and fished Ike and Crackerhead areas. They looked damn good. Caught a bunch of bass, all 12.5-13 3/4 " though.

Crackerhead was muddier than normal when I fished it about a month ago. Everything seemed like they had already done their thing.... I would think everything is starting to settle by now.

To the OP.. Where ever you decide to go just try to find some cypress trees dropping the little green worms and the bream will be near

What do you consider "smoking" them? When I go bass fishing I rarely keep any... Therefore, I like to compete with my best 5 fish. If you consider smoking them, being catching 50 bass with your best going 10lbs... Yeh I did that too.. But I was on 16lbs+ before the muddy water hit

Nope caught about 35 with best 5 going 13-14lbs.

If you catching 5 fish 16+lbs at Verret you are winning every tournament on that lake...

Keep doing what you doing...
