I've watched the spring game a couple of times, now, and I don't feel any better about it. I was really hoping that JJ would give a good performance, but he looked like the same old JJ to me and the stats bear that out.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure we have much choice. JL looked bad. Mett showed promise, but experience will definitely be needed to get through the SEC.

It is possible JJ just had an 'off' day, but it sure looked more like his typical performances than an anomaly.

Preseason #1? I would love to believe it, but a #1 team should not have such a glaring weakness.

I watched it for the 1st time yesterday, but my DVR cut off the last couple minutes. What happened?

did Ware continue his beasting?

how about Tharold?

did Mitch-a-Palooza get another ball thrown his way?

I agree with the O.P. I will wait until we play Oregon on a neutral field before making any statement on our preseason ranking.

By then it will be our Week 1 ranking Nostradamus.

how does anybody have the time to watch a pointless spring game multiple times.

why would anyone want to do that anyways.... JJ could have thrown 7 TD's and it wouldn't have meant anything....

we ran the same 15 plays... its boring... who cares... its not even real.

but you guys keep telling yourself that you know alot about football...

Except for the first White Team possession, I agree. If that one was a measure of the new, improved JJ, I'm excited. If it was just left-over from A&M and what followed in later possessions was the real JJ, then we're looking at last year, part deux - which is to say, no win is sure for LSU until the clock runs out.

I was glad to see that we were able to produce runs over 10+ yards a bunch... If we can break a bunch of long runs during the season that is something that we have lacked the last couple of years and the improved running game should help JJ.

As far as overall, Spring game is a Spring game, you have to take it with a grain of salt.

That's what we were told last year, and what we saw in the spring game is what we got over the course of the year, with some rare exceptions.

Believe me, I want to be excited heading into the season. I just don't want us to have to rely on Divine Intervention to beat teams like Tennessee, and it appears we may have to AGAIN.

It's just a Spring game. What you saw is probably very little of what you are going to see this season. Saying that any player will do good or bad from a Spring game is stupid.

For the folks who say it's only a spring game, I have a question for you: what about JL's performance? Do we say the same for JL? Or do we only use that excuse for JJ? Also, since it's just a spring game, are not, likewise, supposed to be excited about the play of Tharold Simon for next season, or Spencer Ware? After all, it's just a spring game.

Same goes for everybody man. It's just a Spring game. Ware got all those big plays but against a very bland defense. No stunts, no blitzes. All it is is a glorified practice.

The same goes to the defense. Despite some of the big plays, we didn't open up the playbook at all so they looked better.

We won't really know how good we actually are until we get to Dallas. Am I saying we are bad? No. I think we have the opportunity to have a great season. Hell, I think we have the potential to have one of the greatest seasons ever, but we won't know until September.

JJ still over throwing the reciever or at their feet. He does not hit them in stride so they can get some YAC's

I like the decisiveness he played with when he would take off running i thought he should have and in a real game situation alot of those plays would have been pretty good gainers that kept drives alive. he threw well at first until the recievers started dropping passes and having passes punched out of the recievers hands and i think that may have upset him to where he seemed like he had to force the issue in order to find success. as a whole i am very pleased with where this team is right now and i think after working at it all during the fall miles will have this team ready for the opener and JJ will not look great but play well enough to get us a win and thats all i really care about at the end of the day. not every game can be 06 zona.

4 /14 against 2nd team defense is real. Regardless of the play call. I doubt they called "lesser" plays?

College football teams don't need as much out of their QB's, so I'm ok with JJ.

Man, what a bloodletting that was!!! Thanks for reminding me of what dominance is and was. The look on Li'l Stoops' face when he realized after the first 5 minutes that he had 55 more minutes of an arse-whoopin' on the way was PRICELESS.

Yeah, they'll be suicidal when Lee trots out instead of Mett, and leads us to 2 or 3 more victories this yr. His stats were much better than JJs, with half the playing time, including rushing. Marched right down the field in the 2-min offense with the #1s, with ease.

White 2-10 at White35 Jarrett Lee pass complete to Rueben Randle for 11 yards to the WHITE46, 1ST DOWN WHITE, out-of-bounds.
White 1-10 at White46 Jarrett Lee rush for 6 yards to the PURPLE48, out-of-bounds (Ronnie Vinson).
White 2-4 at Purple48 Jarrett Lee pass incomplete to Jarrett Fobbs.
White 3-4 at Purple48 Jarrett Lee pass complete to Spencer Ware for 4 yards to the PURPLE44, 1ST DOWN WHITE (D.J. Welter).
White 1-10 at Purple44 Jarrett Lee pass complete to Russell Shepard for 11 yards to the PURPLE33, 1ST DOWN WHITE (Ronnie Vinson).
White 1-10 at Purple33 Jarrett Lee pass complete to De. Peterson for 13 yards to the PURPLE20, 1ST DOWN WHITE (Ronnie Vinson).
White 1-10 at Purple20 Jarrett Lee pass incomplete (Ryan St. Julien).
White 2-10 at Purple20 Jarrett Lee rush for 2 yards to the PURPLE18 (Lamin Barrow).
White 3-8 at Purple18 Spencer Ware rush for 18 yards to the PURPLE0, 1ST DOWN WHITE, TOUCHDOWN, clock 00:00.

That series was all Lee, until the hand-off to Ware.

The QB is probably one of the most important positions on a football team.
