Hasn't he won three consecutive SEC tournaments?

lets fire him, its apparent he knows nothing about baseball. lets get rid of the whole athletic department. we can also change mascots and change the name of the university.

Tim Corbin is 133-114 in his 8th season at Vandy. Most would agree he is a baseball genius. That's 54% for Corbin and 52% for PM. The SEC is an extremely tough baseball league.

Yep. And there is no doubt that this team is designed to be more competitive in 2012 & 2013 than this spring. Right now we're just the victim of some very unbalanced recruiting.
Unfortunately, the way the game of college baseball is set up, it's almost impossible to plan around. To a large degree everyone is at the mercy of chance for figuring out how recruiting classes will pan out from year to year.
We'll start getting some big hitters coming back to LSU soon enough...

I have a feeling this team will turn the corner after the Pontiff Classic and secure a regional and super.

Mainieri's teams have been streaky since he arrived at LSU. He rode one of those streak to an NC a couple of years ago. But fans should be concerned about how wasy it is for a Mainieri team to go south at the drop of a dime. I don't find him to be an especially impressive game manager.

lsu hasn't been the same since bertman hung it up so just look at the stats pm is not the right fit

No. He's actually pretty horrible at this, but it makes up such a small % of what makes for a good college baseball coach that it shouldn't really be a big deal.
Mainieri will blow a few games from time to time, but in the end, the teams with the most talent and discipline who are best at focusing on the ultimate prize are the ones who will win that prize more often that not.
People are pissed now because we have a subpar team, and Mainieri is getting exposed for some of his weaknesses as a game manager and teacher of individual mechanics. Well, it does suck, but you know, in the big scheme of things, it's really not that big of a deal.
Mainieri is a ruthless executive and media personality above all things. Beneath his exterior, I think he's just like Steinbrenner. He will stop at nothing to keep building up the talent on his team until he gets whatever it takes to win.
He's not the wisest coach in baseball history, but he is, above all else, a ruthless fricking winner. He's won a NC before and he'll win one again, whether LSU makes it to a Super Regional this year or not.
