How about a root beer freeze

I don’t think it is very common, but was introduced to me by my father, and first purchased by us from Frost Top. Similar to a milkshake except made with ice cream and root beer, just enough root beer is needed to water down the ice cream to allow it to flow through a straw.
It is a mighty fine summer drink.

Actually called a rootbeer float, best served in a frozen mug with soft-serve ice cream and A&W rootbeer

No the float is not blended; this is blended like a milkshake.
I am not a fan of the float, it gets that strange foam on top.

I want to try the one at mondo because they use the abita rootbeer on tap. I tried the rootbeer and it's pretty good

Bump for any others that have enjoyed this tasty frozen drink.

We always called them a "Root Beer Frappe". A lot of places sell them, even in Waco, Texas, home of Dr Pepper. They also sell at Dr Pepper Frappe at the Dr Pepper museum.

Way to do that is mix condensed milk with root beer (or creme soda or the red stuff) in a giant Ziploc bag and freeze it. Comes out kind of like a soft ice cream.

You just can't beat a good root beer float, and A&DUB is the shite.
If you add chocolate syrup to this and blend it slightly it turns it into a Black Cow (I've also heard it called Brown Cow).

we also used pop rouge or coke, in the pre-computer days.

Kahlua and Bailey's have to be added in order to make this really good.

I haven't seen this there before, is it on the dinner menu?

I enjoy both the float and the freeze. Root beer and ice cream make a great combo.
And, yep, the A&W root beer floats were great. I actually remember curb service at the one in my hometown.
