I'm simply commenting on great freshmen pitchers who regressed.

Sirotka went undefeated his sophomore year in 1991. He was 1-2 his freshman year of 1990.

McDonald was 2-3 in 1987.
Ogea was 2-0 in 1989.
Sirotka was 1-2 in 1990.
Laxton was 12-1 in 1993.
Mestepey was 11-3 in 2001.

Laxton ended his freshman season at 12-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 109 innings and a BA of .177 and allowed only 2 HRs. Not to shabby.

If I'm not mistaken he pitched a complete game in the final of the 93 CWS. with a CWS record 16 SOs. I think the record still stands.

That was an absolutely dominating performance. Then, he just disappeared. I don't know what happened. And, I'm not sure anyone does. I don't think anyone, at that time, would have thought that that would be the highlight of his life.

Shame, but, in my mind, he, and Warren Morris's HR, are the top two memories I have of Tiger Baseball.

Actually, a lot of people do. He had a pretty serious shoulder injury right after the CWS playing summer ball if I remember correctly.
