Among schools that had at least four players analyzed, Stanford products did the best, with an average score of 31.5.
These schools round out the top 10: Oregon (28.6), Michigan (28), BYU (27), Virginia and Ohio State (both 26.5), Washington (26.4), Notre Dame (25.25), USC (24.6) and LSU (24.5).

Curious to see where the rest of the schools in the south finished

I'm sure part of that is because LSU actually has top flight football players, hence they'll be smarter. There are exceptions to everything, but your brain has to be firing to be successful at a complicated game like major college football.

Not surprised by K State at all with the history of JUCO transfers.

"For the record, a score of 10 indicates that a person is literate"
IQ = 2WPT + 60
A IQ of 78 isn't bad, puts him at 'Borderline deficiency', just below 'Dullness' and right above 'Definite feeble-mindedness'
Hell, even Terry Bradshaw scored a 16, and he couldn't get into lsu.

So McElroy really scored a 43? Still awesome.
And BRUCE EUGENE, Mr. I can't stop eating to make an NFL team, scored a 41. 41??
Grambling, that is.

Patrick Petersen did not understand a single word of that.

Thanks Nick Saban. That Educational Center that you had built not only helps us continue to recruit great athletes but it prepares them for the rest of their life.
What a bargain he was for LSU.

78 is pretty darned low relative to the general population. It falls at the 7th %ile rank. So if you randomly put 100 18-24 year olders together and ranked them according to intelligence, he would be around the 93rd most intelligent or 7th least intelligent.
IQ classifications
130+ = Very Superior
120-129 = Superior
110-119 = High Average
90-109 = AVerage
80-89 = Low Average
70-79 = Borderline
70 and below = Extremely low
(<70 is the cutoff for mental retardation, along with deficient adaptive functioning)

The average IQ for Blacks in the US is 85 (Herrnstein & Murray, 1994). Peterson wouldn't be far from average if you compared him to people of the same race.

That is correct. A 78 is 9 percentage points below 85 (16th %ile rank), so it is lower. The population scores, on average, about one standard deviation below the mean of 100. This holds true even when environmental and socio-cultural factors are controlled. That is not the only study. There are literally more than 100. Asians, on avareg score somewhere about 105.

Is Peterson within a standard deviation of what we would expect?? It seems, based on statistics, that the black guys scoring in the high 20s and 30s are more surprising than Peterson.
From what I've read, Blacks are about 85, Hispanics 89, Whites 102, Asians 107, and Jews 113. Do you know if Whites is Whites (non hispanic, non Jew) or if they include those two groups in the white score?
