My roommate has it on DVD but I heard it's a rip off of Let Me In.

Other way around, but not really a "rip-off".

Let The Right One In (2007)is based on a 2004 book of the same name.

It was a good movie and a big hit in it's native country of Sweden. In typical movie studio fashion, they decided that because it had subtitles it wasn't good enough and had to be remade with proper 'merican actors.

The original was ok so I don't really plan on watching a watered down American remake

I didn't want to watch the American version for the longest time. A friend got me to see the re-make and I thought it was just as good as the Swedish version. I was surprised at what a great job Reeves did with it.

The only problem I have with it was that it's 2 hours long. Long dramatic pauses between dialogue. I could have made this movie in 1.5 hours. Very slow moving.

I cringe when a studio releases a remake of a really good foreign film and, usually, for good reason. Insomnia and The Vanishing are two good examples.

HOWEVER, Let Me In is actually a pretty nice movie and is equal to the Swedish version, imo.

Yeah, this remake wasn't as bad as remakes of most foreign films (Vanishing, La Femme Nikita, etc.). That's partially because the original wasn't as good as those other movies. Let The Right One In and Let Me In were both good but not great. I'd probably give the original a slight edge, but that may only be because it is the original.
