This is all about hype.

That being said, its never a good idea to set the bar higher than you can achieve and fail on a public stage.

I hope he gets it, but the odds are definitely against him.

I mean he's not going to run a 4.2, but I would rather set my goal as that than set it as a 4.6 if I were him.

If stated publicly that his goal was 4.2, he must be getting very close to that number in practice. IMHO

I would probably say I am gonna run a low 4.3, if that was achievable. If you break it, then awesome, if you don't you come in on your number.

If he runs a sub 4.4 he's a top 3 lock. 4.2 and someone looks at him in the top 2. A guy that big and that fast comes around about every 20 years or so with the last one being Deion but he wasn't as thick as PP7.

If TH could do it in high school, then I think it's possible. PP has prolly dropped a few lb's.

For the record, I don't think he will, but I just don't know what's impossible for this guy.

Everyone sets goals like this. I bet Chris Johnson had a set number he wanted to run in his head same as Peterson.

I think 4.2 is a lofty goal, 4.4ish if I had to guess. I do not think teams expect to see CBs with his size run under 4.4, if he runs sub 4.4 he goes top 3 if not they have all lost their mind. He is a big physical CB and if he runs 4.55 - 4.6 he will still be a very high draft pick. I think where he is going to shock everyone is in the short shuttle. Peterson has very fluid hips and it shows in his return game and the way he breaks on the ball. Fluid hips with his size and power is a dangerous combo.

Ya, it's not like he said he was going to, just that he wanted to.

I'd be shocked if he does run that fast, 4.3 is what he will probably run.

The Thorpe Award presentation was officially last night in OKC. I was at the dinner...Patrick did a great job and represented LSU well. Along with the award they gave him a $10,000 Rolex.

He wants to run a 4.2 and be drafted 1st overall. I like a player that sets the goals high and goes after them.

Truth. He really showed his strength on that goal-line play v. Bama when he stopped Trent Richardson cold. TR is reputed to be an ox in RB clothing.
