Rasco may redshirt this year but when you consider that Montgomery has one end spot sewn up for the next three years wouldn't the best lineup look like :
DE Montgomery
DT Johnson
DT Ferguson
DE Rasco

I know Brockers will probably enter the season as a starting DT but I'm thinking further down the line. I may be underestimating MJ as well.

I find a lot of people underestimating Downs. He's going to be in the back field a lot.

Good question...I'm sure chavis has a good idea what he wants to do with that monster defense line....am I just being a home but is this potentially one of the best Defensive lines......Our secondary has to be pumped for this, more chances for them to make huge plays

Miles stated pretty emphatically that Rasco would not be redshirted. Rasco said during his commit he's looking forward to the next "three or four years" at LSU. Pretty safe to say he will be on the field early. I'm sure Montgomery still has a lot of recovering to do and I'm not sure I'd already count on him being the guy we were seeing last season. In short, Rasco and Ego will both be at DE next season and get significant playing time.

No...

Okay, if we want to look ahead, I don't see how you can keep Mingo out of the discussion. He'll probably be shy of 250 going into this season, and still have the frame to add additional weight.

Mingo, Maclin, Montgomery, Lavar, Chancey, Rasco, Adams, Allen

Thats pretty solid at DE.

I hope Ego checks his "ego" and heads over to DT. I think he could be a star there...

I think they should take a good look at putting him at LB. On his videos, he is pretty fast!

He would have to bust his arse and check his ego if he wants to be on the field..>DE we are solid....the 2 Johnsons Mickey and the freak are going to be the bash brothers and make our veterans earn their spots

also hope they move him to LB. He'd be a beast MLB or maybe an even better OLB in the 3-4. He's got great athleticism and closing speed and wouldn't need to put on a ton of weight. Reminds me of those badass LB's bama's had recently

Losing two senior DT means Ego moves back inside.

LSU Defensive Line Depth Chart (based on games started, total tackles, and being The Freak):

LE Kendrick Adams, Sam Montgomery, Lavar Edwards
DT Anthony Johnson, Ego Ferguson, Mickey Johnson
DT Micahel Brockers, Josh Downs, Davenport
RE Barkevious Mingo, Chancey Aghayere, Jermauria Rasco

That is a twelve man rotation, which is similar to what was used in 2010.

I have Clowney as a redshirt freshman with this group.

The 12 man rotation is about right....will help us tremendously against Oregon....

Tough to rely on downs when he spends so much time in the training room

That just opens more playing time for Clowney.

One thing to really consider when talking about if anyone is moving is this: LSU usually likes to use a couple of packages and play more than just the 4 starters. In that case, you really are looking more for a rotation of guys than just 4 starters. Just looking at our current roster for the next year or 2, this is how I see the "rotation" going - Kendrick Adams, Sam Montgomery, Freak Johnson, Ego Ferguson, KeKe Mingo, Michael Brockers, Josh Downs, Chancey Aghayere, Jermario Rasco. I think this is how the rotation looks during any 1 game. Obviously some of these guys are situational guys like a rushing DE or something like that, but I think that this is how it looks. One of these guys will only be here for one more year - Kendrick Adams and I think that Rasco will slide into his spot in the rotation next year. Not saying he won't play next year, but I think that he will really be in the rotation in 2 years.

I definitely wouldn't put Rasco before someone like Jordan Allen as of now. He was a blue chip recruit just a year ago, and his red-shirt year has only helped him along.

If Montgomery is good to go there is no way anyone starts over him. Guy is gonna be a monster if he can come back strong.
