frick I'm just waiting on football season.

Baseball is good but rebuilding IMO. Less than 20% chance of making the World Series which is our ultimate goal

Gausman is the man and we always tend to have a decent lineup, wish renaudo would have stayed, but dont blame him.

I think the pitching will be a lot better. I kind of like the feel of this year. I have a good feeling

The ultimate goal is always winning the CWS, but yeah, it might be a rough year.

I think we have a good shot at making it back to Omaha. I think if our pitching is better we are in great shape.

Have there been any good preseason anaylsis / lineup threads around here lately?

It's not just the pitching. LSU only had 7 guys last season with at least 2 AB per game...

Micah Gibbs, .388, 10 HR
Blake Dean, .341, 12 HR
Leon Landry, .338, 6 HR
Mikie Mahtook, .335, 14 HR
Tyler Hanover, .332, 2 HR
Austin Nola, .320, 5 HR

Matt Gaudet, .283, 19 HR

and then next in line with 123 AB...

Trey Watkins, .268, 2 HR

Gibbs, Dean, Landry, & Gaudet are all gone, which doesn't leave us with a whole lot coming back.

That looks like 6 solid guys, but no real offensive stars for them to hit around as a supporting cast. It's looking like it might be a mediocre year offensively unless some guys decide to step up unexpectedly.

Some other threads on 2011 lineups: LINK & LINK.

So there will be 16 returning lettermen and 22 new freshmen/transfers. Yeesh.

I really do think the pitching will be fine with all the talent being recruited there, but that the offense is going to seriously struggle.
