Need help choosing a trolling motor

So I got a 19ft. bay boat recently that needs a trolling motor. I've been looking but hard to figure out exactly what I need. I want a bow mount and plan on mostly freshwater, but some saltwater fishing. The bow sits about two feet above the water. I don't need top of the line but I want something decent with enough thrust for most situations. I don't really want all the bells and whistles, but I do want foot controls. Any help would be appreciated!

Personally, I don't like the foot controls, but to each his own. I don't sit and fish though...
I like Minn Kota. We have a 19' bayboat with a 150 Merc Opti on it, and we use a 80 lb Minn Kota. I kinda wish we had a 101 lb, but it's probably not necessary for everyone. We fish a lot of redfish tournies, so we're generally on it all day. Towards the end of the day, it used to crap out. Now we have an onboard charger, and if it gets low, it will recharge from the big motor when we're running. Therefore, it never gets low, because we don't usually stay in one spot more than a couple hours.

I hate Motorguide...especially in salt water.

just make sure you get enough power w/ that type of boat. I'd say 80 lb thrust at a minimum.
as to minn kota vs. motor guide, I like minn kota, but everyone seems to have a different opinion.

Thanks. Is a 42in. shaft long enough?

I have a 80lb digital on my 22' and have no trouble even in heavy wind. And I both I've owned were Minn Kota...easy to pull up and put down.

I have the Motorguide SW75 remote controlled unit on my 18ft. Kenner center console.
Have had it for 3 years with narry a problem.
Boat does 3.2 MPH. GPS

I like Minn Kotas.
If you are mainly freshwater fishing (bass, especially), I'd go with a foot control. With a 19ft boat you'll probably want a 24v and at least 70lbs thrust.

Get the most powerful motor you can afford. Get a measuring tape and measure your bow to 10 inches below water line of boat then add 16 inches. That should give you a rough estimate of shaft length. I prefer motorguide but thats is just my preference.
Check cabelas for reconditioned motors. Could save some cash.
Good luck on your purchase

#1 rule is you can never have too much thrust. Never
