UCONN head coach Randy Edsall has accepted the head coaching job at Maryland. Check out "The Scoop."

What happened to Leach? I thought he was the guy they wanted.

why in the world would Edsall do this?

Unless it's purely for money I don't get it.

Anyone care to come up with reasons why he would take this seemingly lateral move.

I don't think it is a lateral move, with Under Armor throwing money their way he is probably getting paid. Also you have to admit that Oregon has greatly benefitted from being associated with Nike. JMO

Edsall, whose team lost to Oklahoma in Saturday night's Tostistos Fiesta Bowl, did not return Sunday to Connecticut on the UConn charter flight.

Instead, said ESPN.com sources, he and his family were to fly from Phoenix to Maryland to meet with Terrapin school officials.

probably thinks it's a better gig. the Under Armour money, better recruiting area, probably a bigger commitment to football from the school.

I am not a recruiting guru but I am pretty sure that the state of Maryland churns out more talent than Connecticut.

I disagree. Conn. can get guys from the north east which is a pretty good area.

Maryland is known as a basketball school so I find this hard to believe.
