My mother has an old Charles Daly over and under that she wants to give to my nephew. It's a nice little gun and has some family history, so it will make a nice gift for him. It has a few very small rust spotson the barrels and some wear spots as well. Is it worth getting it reblued? If so, any suggestions on where to have this done in the Lafayette area? If there's a better place in Houston or similar, I'd be willing to travel. Thanks in advance.

You can give these guys a call if you can't find anything local. They are in Houston. They have a nice shop. 185.00-225.00 was the last quotes I got from them on a re-bluing.

I was told that certain shotguns cannot handle the newer loads and pressures make sure you research this before you let the nephew start shooting it.

This guy is supposed to have quick turn around and do quality work. LINK

Prices appear to start around $300.

IMO never reblue a gun unless it really needs it.

I had one reblued in Shreveport 15yrs ago but can not remember the name of the place.

the Lafayette area?

Bayou Teche Guns

The negative is they sometimes take awhile due to the volume of work they have. Other than that, excellent service.

I've had a gun re blued there excellent work they even but a gold trigger back on it after a fire. I have also had something else done to another shotgun forgot what they called it but it is kind of like parkerizing, it also came out excellent when the brought it out I asked who's gun was it I didn't even recognize it.
