Against San Fran, Gale Sayers scored 6 TDs in the game, tying the NFL record. The amazing thing is, Sayers only touched the ball SIXTEEN times@

Rushed 9 times for 113 yards and 4 TDs.
Caught 2 passes for 89 yards and a TD.
Returned 5 punts for 134 yards and a TD.

Bears coach/owner George Halas said it was the greatest exhibition of football by one man in one game that he had ever seen.

Sayers!

If I recall correctly, he had another shot to score more right?

Yeah, he did. Jon Arnett scored the last TD for the Bears that day.

Halas took him out after 5 TD's and had to be talked into putting him in to return a punt, which he returned for a TD. Bears were winning big.

He was a rookie as well. Also, the field that day was almost as bad as the LSU/PSU Capitol One Bowl from last season.
