Anything worthwhile? Or should I just make the drive to Middendorfs?

Nothing in Ponchatoula. Mom and Dad told me Middendorf's has really fallen off lately. That makes me so sad cuz I used to be able to eat my weight in their hushpuppies. Anyway, go to my favorite hole-in-the wall place in Hammond: Lee's Drive in on Thomas St. Their Burger, onion rings and chocolate shake will make you slap your Mama.

I've eaten at Mittendorfs several times in the last six months and I think they are better than they have ever been. The new owners really juiced the place.

Glad to hear that, I guess my folks hadn't been in a while. That thin-cut catfish and hushpuppies just bring a tear to my eye. Thanks man, you made my day. Now when when head down to NOLA to see the in-laws over the holidays we have a legit reason to drag out the ride

They built an outdoor pavilion with another kitchen to serve the boats. Last time we pulled the boat in, got a drink ordered thin catfish and sat outside. Very good and a nice setup for summertime.

Middendorfs is great. The new owners with many of the old cooks and waitstaff have it back better than ever I think. Taste of Bavaria just out of Ponchy towards Springfield is really goo as well in a comp-letely different genre of food obviously.

O'Donnels by the tracks was very good a few weeks ago. Pricey though.

Charlies in springfield is decent. Their steaks are the size of footballs.
There's always hi ho.
