It seems the majority of this board seems to like it, but this show just isn't cutting it for me. None of the characters have been well developed and the writers are obviously just making shite up as they go.

Anybody else quit on this yet? It generally takes a lot for me to quit on a show (I mean I stuck with Heroes through all 4 seasons), but with so many other great shows on right now (Boardwalk, Walking Dead, Fringe), I don't think The Event warrants the time. Though I think an argument can be made that it's getting into the "it's so bad it's funny" category, in which case it may be worth sticking with.

The episode right before the two week break got me for a few weeks and the ending to this weeks episode got my attention for a few more minutes, but I am feeling you.

I said to the wife last night, I wish I never started watching this show. It's good just not really good enough. If that makes sense.

Dude if you got through 4 seasons of Heroes how have you only been able to make it through like 6 weeks of this? I watched some Heroes and that shite was slow at first and the last season I watched nothing happened and it was just stupid. I never got what happened at that carnival and what the hell was going on. Don't know how you continued watching.

Believe me....it's not something I'm proud of.

But at least Heroes had a great 1st season (up until the finale) which hooked a lot of people, and a couple of cool characters (though they managed to frick up most of them by the end). And even in the later shitty seasons Heroes would still have a great episode every once in a while which would give some (slight) hope. The Event right now is at Heroes season 3/4 quality and IMO is getting worse (and more ridiculous) each week. Giving that it isn't improving and most likely won't even get a 2nd season, I'm struggling to find reasons to keep watching.

I'm just curious as to how many people have quit on it already or are considering doing so like I am.

That's the whole point, I'm not when it comes to serialized shows like this. I think the last one that I started and stopped watching in the middle of the 1st season was The Nine on ABC a couple years back.

It's good enough to merit a second season given the other mess out there.

Terriers, outside of maybe Walking Dead, is the best new show of the season.

I agree with this

Not a chance.

This show is trying to be another 'lost' but they don't want to string along the viewers like lost did. In my opinion, the show moves too fast to develop characters really. Its more a 24-esque version of Lost. Pure popcorn style.

It's definitely trying to be a combo of the two, but the execution has been very poor so far. And being fast paced is no excuse for bad characterization.

I was really into the show and thinking it would be different until this week when they cleared Agent Lee the way they did. I was hoping they would find out he was the mole and the arc off that, but they didn't. They took the easy way out and if that starts to happen I will stop watching.

Same here. I guess they did what they did just to preserve his inside status, which makes sense in the long run, but I really wanted to see him get found out.

This.

LOST carried so many viewers because it was slow developing which allowed the characters to develop.

The Event has thrown more things out in five episodes than LOST did in two seasons.

we've been DVRing them and i watched 3 episodes the other night. Wasn't impressed and like you said, there are just too many other shows to invest my time in it this year. If it came out maybe Pre-Lost or in a year that was weaker than this one, I might stick it out.

I was out after the second episode. I've heard nothing to make me regret the decision.
