Let's give Wilkerson the benefit of the doubt that Brees was (more likely) or is injured more seriously than the Saints have let on (not a stretch).

But let's assume that (1) Wilkerson is a thousand-million-trillion percent wrong on his most inflammatory claim -- i.e., that Brees is so hopped up on pain pills that it has affected his play and (2) he won't reveal his sources to back up his claim.

How does a station that positions itself as the alternative sports talk outlet justify keeping this guy on the air if he is that far off the reservation?

And more importantly, who are his producers that allowed him to go on the air and make such a hyperbolic statement that they knew would absolutely put a target on their collective backs?

Should he continue to be employed by WIST? Where is danfraz when you really need him?

He is not an employee.

Fine. Should he continue to have a forum subsidized by a radio station in which to make such inflammatory "factual" statements?

Depends upon the terms of his contract and the ultimate facts of this case.

Well, I asked you to make a couple of assumptions. Given those, what do you think?

As for the terms of his contract, if they know what they are doing they should have a contract that allows them to cut him loose without penalty (e.g., fee per show, no set number of shows). He wasn't exactly bargaining from a position of strength.

Can't the station also be liable if he utters an actionable statement? I'd think they would want to sever ties with him to protect themselves from possible action.

It was clearly uttered with malice, in my mind, and not simply fair comment on a public figure.

I absolutely agree.

If you're asking whether I think KW should be terminated, if his report is bullshite I would say yes.

Radio is about ratings. I think his ratings should suffer for spreading such a vicious rumor about probably the most idolized person in the region, but if the people of NOLA are trashy enough to listen to him more than before, they deserve to have him on the air. I'm hoping NOLA stays classy and he gets let go.

Has Wilkerson been on the air since yesterday? I dont know if he has a daily show or not. I like to see if hes backpeddling now that hes got pretty much owned.

I just wonder if he will reveal himself like he did during his last big scandal.
He claims to be addicted to sports message boards and what he said on the Nazi-run Saints board led to him losing his job at WWL.

They should definitely be held accountable. They should have a producer/editor/director, or something like that, who screens this and makes sure that it is accurate. I believe in one of the other threads about this, the station manager said he checked with Kenny and his source, so the station manager should be thinking about updating his resume
ETA: according to the post in that thread, the manager didn't check with the source, but knows the source and believes him

This is the only correct answer as to how to harm KW. If all we are doing is talking about this around here and on other forums, we are just getting him attention and the station manager probably thinks this will increase ratings.

If you get companies to stop running ads or threaten to stop running ads with them, you will see action on the station's part.

He sure does. He fricking mocks Buddy D. every damn show and tries to play it off as "loving" but it's really smarmy and belittling like you said.

You are as bad as KW by implying that Drew is hopped on pain meds implying that is his problem.

There is no evidence of that. All of the TP reporters say Drew is fine and they watch him every day. KW can't even get in to the facility.

Enough of the KW crap. he is just trying to get back at Payton and Loomis.
