How is it 2 days past, and Crowton still has a job? If you pay somebody as much as Miles pays Crowton, and you have to take off the headset to personally call the final play, that pretty much stipulates that the OC is not helping the team win and in fact unreliable and a liability. Unbelievable. Blind loyalty will bring about Miles' ultimate demise.

Miles is no genius for sure...but he's smart enough to not let someone like Crowton destroy the program.

I dont see Crowton being here much longer...maybe not even until the end of the season. Any one of the other coordinators could do a better job calling the offense. I dont know how the idiot ever got to be an OC...offenses regress every year after he becomes their OC.

Not defending Crowton here, but the idea of a mid-season fire does not sound like a recipe for sucess.

I agree, it will clearly make our offense worse

That's exactly correct.

not so sure. if gonzo is good at play calling, simply remove that from crowtons job description, which is almost a de facto firing but allowing him to find another job next year.

We just luckily put up 16 pts against a team that went 2 OTs to beat UAB.

Seriously...the playcalling right now is beyond mindboggling. Shep looks lost as a WR and is on the field for every play...yet they rarely get him the ball. We run that idiotic QB option with a QB that looks terrified running it. Our RB busts it for 15 yards...and then is taken out of the game.

Holy frick...I could call a better game...so could you. And I know one thing...i wouldnt try to swap personell with 15 seconds on the clock and no Timeouts. Jeez.

Miles said in the clip from the TP website:

4 minute mark, Miles called game-winning play.

5 something minute mark, Crowton was the playcaller on the last series

Blind loyalty in a head coach is a tradition around here. Remember Lou Tepper?

bingo.

BUT, letting GC go now could actually aid in national perception that there is a "want" to improve our offense and could help with recruiting. Guys, this latest gaffe is inexcusable.

We don't have a choice right now. I'm not sure BG is ready with this being his first year at LSU as the OC. I think it's up to Lee who obviously understands the playbook better and the receivers to execute.

No he is not. If he were, Crowton would be long gone.

I agree with you about that. But can BG do better? That's the issue. Has he ever called plays before? J. Lee is capable of making enough plays passing each game to give us the opportunity to win with this defense simply due to executing the play calls. He has been able to do that 2 years ago even with the turnovers. I don't believe he'll turn the ball over 4 times to Alabama or Florida. I believe after two he would play smarter, because he is more experienced and understands the need to keep them to a minimum. Really its where you throw the INTs on the field (hopefully downfield). The skilled players will have to protect the ball on completions though. And no fumbles in the running game.
