A lot of chatter regarding T bob throwing his helmet and how that should have been a penalty.

Question for you all - might the reason be that it was not flagged was because time had run out already (in the case of both helemt tosses)?

In any case he needs to keep his helmet on.

My question is if it would have been off-setting penalties (Tenn: 13 defenders on the field and T-Bob: unsportsmanlike conduct) and time had expired...

...would we have gotten another play? What's the rule?

maybe UT should get another penalty for running on the field

It would have been a dead ball penalty. Since it didn't happen during the play it wouldn't offset. They would have backed us up 15 yards.

Watch the replay - T-Bob spiked his helmet as a UT guy was falling on the ball. The play was still active. My guess is penalties would offset - but would we have gotten another play?

why wouldn't Tennessee be flagged for storming the field, throwing their helmets, and running all over the place with the UT flag?

I was at the game and i didn't see it. When i rewatched the game i didn't look for it. So i just figured it was after the play from what people were saying. If it was after the play the no call was right imho, because the game was over at that point.

Leave T Bob alone and be glad that he snapped the ball.

Exactly. Les had that fire in 2007, somehow he lost it. Maybe he has been dulled watching our offense the last 2 years just like I have.

And most of the rest of the line. This line could have been really good if Blackwell hadn't gotten hurt, because he also has that fire. T-Bob's spirit and technique infused into the physical presence of either of the guys on our right side and you have an AA OG/OT.

And missing in all this is acknowledging T-Bob's right to slam his helmet to the ground. It was certainly a mistake - players make those. But he earned the right to make it.

The clock had expired when he took his helmet off. If you notice, several of Tennessee's players took their helmets off immediately after that, everyone fails to mention that though. If LSU would have gotten a penalty, Tennessee would have also.

T. Cody did the same thing after the block against Tenn last year.

Cody didn't spike his helmet - he took it off. That's flagable and is sometimes called. Spiking a helmet during a play is ALWAYS - well almost always - called.

Only if it were the only penalty. But since Tenn players and their coaches were wackin off in the middle of the fiedl, there would have been numerous violations on Tenn also and everything would have offset EXCEPT the illegal participation penalty which happened BEFORE or DURING the play. I would still have been inforced

He clearly threw his helmet after the play was over. Thus the game was over.

Can anyone blame him at the time. He had just been in on a play that could have been the greatest debacle in college football history.
