re: T Bob's helmet toss

How many times do I have to show it?
LINK
UT players on the field with NO HELMET on PRIOR to T-Bob taking his helmet off. ALSO UT player #42 spikes his helmet to the ground as well at the same time. Call a penalty or not the game was thought to be over but if you call the penalty its offsetting post play infractions and still a penalty for the 13 men on the field and the same play occurs from the same spot.

Same situation as Mount Fat arse last year during the Gump/UT game. Time had run out hence no penalty.

Leave T Bob alone and be glad that he snapped the ball.
He shouldn't have snapped the ball with 3 seconds left though--really needed to wait another full second before going into snap motion because no way Jefferson would have been ready for it (good thing there was a defensive penalty in this case). That said, I'm not sure Jefferson looked like he would have been ready to take the snap even before the clock struck zero.

WTF??
If he doesnt snap the ball the game is OVER.. LSU loses. The guy saved the game. WTF are you talking about?

3 seconds or 1 second wouldn't make ANY difference. JJ wasn't going to be ready until well after :00. The o-line didn't know what the playcall was. Do you think Jefferson and the WR were on the same page as to what play was called.
I'm proud of T-Bob of having the awareness to at least give us a chance and not letting us sit on the ball like the Ole Miss game.

Thank you!!! Somebody has a clue.
Someone needs to get a freeze frame of the instant T-Bob removed his helmet, because you'll also see #21 and #74 for UT on the field with their helmets off, as well as 2 UT coaches on the field. The ball had still not been recovered at this point. So technically it should have been offsetting personal fouls, plus illegal participation (13 men at the snap) on UT.

UT players were throwing their helmets, Dooley clearly ran out of the coaches box, there was so much pandemonium that to call a flag on one player would have been retarded

Question for you all - might the reason be that it was not flagged was because time had run out already (in the case of both helemt tosses)?
That is exactly why. The ref had signaled the game over on the field and Tennessee has no argument here at all.
The win was ugly but the right calls were made. The refs did the right thing and it just happen to suck for Tennessee. The game can not end on a penalty that is not a dead ball foul and that was not a dead ball foul. You can't allow the other team to have 13 men on the field and that is just the rules. I know it sucked for Tennessee and that was a tough loss for them as it would be for anybody but they lost and the right call was made on the field.

The reason it wasn't called is because technically, the play never happened due to the illegal participation.
Posted on 10/4/10 at 7:53 am to Bayou
I thought the same thing Bayou. Not sure if time expiring didn't have a lot to do with the no call.

The clock was expired, but the play was still live.

If you notice, several of Tennessee's players took their helmets off immediately after that, everyone fails to mention that though. If LSU would have gotten a penalty, Tennessee would have also.
Yeah, it was pandemonium, which I why I think it was not called/ neglected. However, it clearly could have been a penalty, but the same penalty could be called on UT for rushing the filed with helmets off because the play was not dead.
starts at 8:00 min mark

Actually there were 3 UT staff people on the field. If you look at the tape, immediately before Hebert took his helmet off, between the 20 and 26 yardlines, there are two players who enter from the sidelines, neither with helmets, and three staff people on the field. If there were to be penalities (and no-call was the right call all around at this point). I have the capture from the video, but am not adept at posting it.

Dooley spiked his headset on the field of play twice, which couldve been delay of game or unsportsmanlike conduct.

The reason it wasn't called was because the refs who might have seen it (if any, which is unlikely since they were probably watching the scramble for the ball) would not likely call a post-snap penalty on the offense when it was clear that the play would not result in a score, ending the game. It would be pointless to call an post-snap penalty on the offense in that situation since the game was over and an offensive penalty would not extend the game. The refs who would have been in position to make the call would not have realized that the game was not actually over because it was the refs on the Tennessee side of the LOS who threw the illegal participation flags. They didn't throw the flags because, a) they didn't see it or b) they thought the failed play ended the game with an expired clock.

T-Bobs helmet did not come off, before the Tenn players and staff rushed the field.

I don't blame him I would have thrown that shite in the stands.

There you go. I have the same picture, minus the markups captured from the video (except it is one frame before and showing 2 other staff people on the field in addition to the one shown in your capture.

Yeah, someone just started a thread with it. No way do Tenn people have a leg to stand on. It was pandemonium, and a no call was the right call.

read where he snapped the ball with out JJ calling for it cause he didnt want time to expire...wow!!!....if not JJ would have never saw it!...
still, keep the hat on bud!
TBob would have had a dead ball penalty and it would have been an untimed down from the 15...wonder which play miles would have had to call on his own to score that one...lol

Thanks, I have just seen the other thread. By the way, I had missed the orange-shirted staffer, so that there 4 on the field at that point. I think the guy in the white shirt is Dooley. Am I right?
