read where he snapped the ball with out JJ calling for it cause he didnt want time to expire...wow!!!....if not JJ would have never saw it!...

Well, he snapped the ball with 3 seconds left, still a chance JJ could have called for the ball. If we don't get that penalty, T-Bob costs us the game.

Watch the replay - T-Bob spiked his helmet as a UT guy was falling on the ball. The play was still active. My guess is penalties would offset - but would we have gotten another play?

When the Tenn player fell on the ball the clock had run out already - moot point. Games only continue on a defensive penalty after time runs out.

Would you have taken that chance if you were T-Bob?

He made a judgment call. It worked out, but if it did not, would he be the hero he is? There is no way he knew the other team had too many men on the field. He snapped it out of frustration, and he could have cost us the game. I have not seen any evidence that JJ did not know the clock situation. Only evidence I have heard, is that T-Bob saw there were 5 seconds left and decided to snap the ball without Jefferson calling for it.

Without the screw-up by Tennessee, it would have been a massive fail, no doubt, but on the other hand, it is also fairly likely with JJ's frequent lack of savy in dealing with pressured situations, the clock would have expired without a snap at all, if Hebert had waited. Bottom line is that we should never have been in that situation in the first place, but the coaching staff should bear the blame for that.

No doubt. We should have never been in that position, and we got lucky all the way around.

I can't believe you think T-Bob almost cost us the game. JJ wasn't ready for the snap, but watch the video clip again. JJ claps his hands to signal he's ready right before the ball is snapped at 8:17.

Archie Bengal Bunker...NO CLUE!! JJ was not ready. Hebert took it upon himself to snap the ball to make SOMETHING happen. Great awarenes on his part. Like T Bob's headiness, toughness, competiveness. Just if he were just a bit bigger. Heck, I will take his Production & versibility over Size any day. He is a BALLER for sure. Leading the team in Knock Downs! Anyone who understands football, knows of his importance to this team.

If t-bob gets flagged for throwing his helmet, tennessee should get flagged for storming the field

It's the Cody addendum to the SEC Rule Book. Helmet removal is allowed during the last play of the game when playing Tennessee.

My point is the Tennessee player was falling on the ball (not past tense) when the helmet spike occurred. The fact that the clock read 0:00 at this point doesn't matter. The game was not over yet - the ball was still live. It could have squirted out, been picked up by a Tiger and run in for a TD. Had this happened the TD would have counted - it wouldn't have been disallowed because the clock was at zero.

Roger all on Tennessee's sideline breaking the rules too. I'm just saying I've never seen a blatant helmet or ball spike NOT CALLED when the violation occurs DURING the play.

Same question came up last year when the 'Bama guy took off his helmet on the field to celebrate blocking the game-winning fg attempt by UT. The explanation given then was game over so it did not matter. I've never seen that penalty called after time has expired fwiw. Have seen it several times(including '07 against LSU)in the past during a game.

You need to get that picture to Dr Lou and get him to retract his statment that T-Bob's helment off should have been a penalty without mentioning the many penalities from UTe.
