What's your subcompact/compact/cc handgun of choice?

Considering the Glock 36(.45 ACP), 39(.45 GAP), or maybe the 26 (9mm) or 27(.40).

What's your preference in this category?

Also any input on the ones I'm looking at?

Thin is in.

I have tried to make my weapons of choice, my daily carry, only to find that the guns I really like to shoot are too bulky and too heavy to be comfortable enough to carry all the time. I find myself leaving them at home or in the car too often. If I were wearing a jacket and a shoulder rig all the time, this might be a different story.

I think Glock makes great guns, but even their subcompacts are not that thin. The Glock 36 might be the exception to this. I have no love for gimmick cartridges like the .45gap or .40S&W. I wish they made a thin, single stack compact 9mm. I'd be all over that.

I was looking at the Walther PPS, and then someone on here told me to look at the Keltec PF9. Different classes of guns to be sure, but the Keltec is cheap, reliable, and getting great reviews.

Still kind of a big gun for daily concealment. I have the Glock 30, i know it's a bit thicker but everything else remains the same.

.40 is a gimmick cartridge? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the term, but it's got to be one of, if not the, most widely used cartridges in the US at this point.

Yeah, the G36 is the slimline, but about half an inch longer than the other subs.

I can see how thin would be a primary factor as to bulkiness, probably more important than length.

They are the same length, don't know about width.

Apparently they have a Glock 30 slimframe...hmmm

To each his own, brother. I am not going to rehash its creation or selection criteria. That's been done enough. It'll get the job done if you do your part, I am sure.

I carry a glock 27 so I don't have to use all this karate.

I've had no issues. Good holster, practice drawing it, comfortable clothes.

Definitely. I drift between .45 and .40 a lot.

Thinking for a closer range and shorter barrell a .45 would be better, but still open-minded.

Sig P238 in 380

When living in the south and 9 months out of the year you can wear shorts and a T-shirt I got tired of tring to hide a Subcompact gun. I had a XD-subcompact. Now I carry the sig everywhere I go and hardly know its there.

Its not a gun I would pick up if someone was breaking into my house, but it is an effective round at close distances and I fell it will get me out of trouble if and when I need it.

My CCG is a Keltec P11 in 9mm. Fits well in the back pocket of dress sacks in summer when you can't wear a vest or jacket. It has a double stack mag and shoots like a dream, although the trigger pull is a little long. For the truck, I have the Taurus Judge loaded with 2 410 buck (to see if they are serious), 1 410 slug (if they are) and 2 45's (for them running if posible).

I held most compacts at the gun shop and settled on the LCP pocket pistol. I just can't fit a compact version of a full size pistol inside the waist band and be comfortable.

Yea the PF9 is a very cheap alternative and is tiny for a 9mm. The gun is reliable if you take care of it. It is not in the same class as the bigger glocks, sigs, hks where you can shoot beaucoup rounds through, not clean it and expect it to fire a year from now. I have been readin it tarnishes very easy if kept unclean. but if you keep it in shape it will last.

well IMO it is a gimmick and everyone bit on. It sacrificed both ends of the spectrum to accomplish nothing. But im not dogging it.

I just bought a LCP and i actually really like it. it is very small.

i have a .40 in it and HATE it. It is the least accurate pistol i own and recoil is huge.

If the Storm was made by anyone other than Beretta, nobody would buy that big ugly thing.

Btw, in response to the OP, take a look at Kahr pistols. I just sold mine, but that's b/c I had the all-steel MK9 and it was just too heavy for everyday carry. Single stack, awesome triggers, accurate, reliable.

I myself can't see always carrying any Glock, but I know that a lot of folks carry the 26.

I have a Glock 26 that is always in my truck. I really like that little gun and it is surprisingly accurate and the recoil is very managable.
It is too big to carry in the summer when wearing shorts and tee shirt or polo though.

Because of that yesterday I bought a Ruger LCP. It's in my front pocket in a pocket holster and I can hardly tell that it's there.

I just bought the xd 9mm sub compact this weekend. It was between this and the glock 26 but the xd just fit my hand better. I also own the ruger p345 pictured above and like it but just too big for me to carry comfortably.

I'm thinking hard about getting one of those just b/c of the price. For what I just sold my Kahr for, I can get one of those and a Diamondback 380, lcp, or tcp for pocket carry. Plus, with the 17 rd mag, the SR9c is plenty good enough for holding the fort at home too.

Btw, that Diamondback 380 feels puuurty good in the hand. I'm just not sold on the reliability of it yet. Anybody have any experience?
