Who is it? If it is T-Bob Hebert why is Coach Stud letting T-Bob make the decisions for him. Stud basically threw out the depth chart because T-Bob was in his ear before the game. He would lose credibility as a coach if I busted my arse all spring and fall for him and then puts T-Bob in. Not putting down T-Bob, I am just hoping to see Faulk, Wiliford or any other Hog-Molly we have in the garage waiting to get on the field

quote:

Unexpectedly, the player LSU coaches sent out to fill the void was junior T-Bob Hebert, the former starting center. Well, unexpected to everybody except Hebert. “I kind of expected that if one of the guards went down, my number would be called,” Hebert said. “I talked to (offensive line coach Greg Studrawa) during camp and before the game and let him know, if somebody did go down, that I felt confident I could fill in for them on either side.” Hebert spent the rest of the night at right guard, except for one third-quarter series, and held up reasonably well. He said he lined up at guard for a handful of practice snaps in fall camp, but had never played the spot in a game.

I still can't believe they put a guy who has been a center his entire life at guard in that spot. Our coaching staff is fricking pitiful.

He was ok in the game, certainly not horrible like last year. He will get devoured in the SEC though. Absolutely no way in hell they can keep him at G.

Not really but if we're down to our back up center, who is the smallest linemen on the team, as our starting right guard we're fricked. On the "phantom penalty" play T-Bob's guy was double-teamed by Hurst. He didn't do all that work himself.

My exact thought all game. I believe Blackwell's backup was freshman Willford so why didn't he go in??
Nothing against t-bob but why isn't the backup guard go in for the starting guard??? It is just odd to me

I think moving Hurst back to the inside wouldn't be a bad move. Hurst got burned early in the game then settled in. I'm not opposed to seeing him stay at RT and see how he does but I always thought he'd fit best at RG...

He wasn't exactly terrible there last year. Shaw was a guy that LSU was high on as a Freshman, then when they changed blocking schemes, he fell off the map.

If they had a stat for a o-line sitting on his arse, T-Bob probably would have the record last year. The dude blocks hard but he just doesn't have the strength/girth to survive the SEC.

Wiliford is listed as the starter on this weeks depth chart according to what the press got today.

I dont think T-bob is a very good lineman especially in the SEC, BUT the entire reason he went in and not someone else is because he knows the plays and blocking schemes and they probably felt comfortable playing a guy who got a lot of snaps vs a guy who hadnt taken a snap yet. Now, from here on out, it is in the hands of the coaches to NOT play our back up center @ guard and get someone else ready to do it.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. Right side of the line would have a ton of weight...

I thought I saw Williford in the game other day? Didn't someone blow past him? I have to watch it again but I think he played a series and didn't look too good...not 100% sure though.

Wiliford was in for a series, end of the Q3 and start of Q4 I think. He did have a lineman blow past him on a Ridley run where he never had a chance.

Maybe T-Bob was just inserted because he has experience and it was a spur of the moment decision. With a week to prepare JW to start, maybe he gets the nod now.

Not the point. The point they are making is you should play someone who has been practicing at that spot the whole year.

And he did get called for holding that negated a touchdown. FWIW Maybe the center has more leway with his hands and guards are scrutinized closer by the refs. That means him not playing his career there cost us a touchdown.

No, it probably isn't. Trying to figure out how the staff makes decisions is impossible, but I tried.
