Center is the one position on the line where you have to know the plays for every other position. He maybe small. But dude knows the playbook. Also, he did not look horrible at guard. The holding call was complete B.S.

Hebert played surprisingly well. On the few plays that Williford was in he wasn't looking to good. He looked very lumbering and just got smoked. I hoping someone else can step up, especially after what I saw of Williford and also knowing that the coaching staff felt so uncomfortable about putting him in that they went with the smallest O-lineman on the roster and who has never even practiced at the position other than a few times here and there.

Agree that T-Bob was okay, but not much better than that. Whether it was a good call or not, the holding cost the team a touchdown. I don't think one series is enough to write off Williford, and I like the idea of moving Hurst back to RG and giving Faulk or Shaw a shot. Just like last season, T-Bob will get devoured in SEC play--there's enough size & talent, let's find out, whether it's Williford, Shaw, Faulk, whoever, not T-Bob for the SEC.

really are Faulk, Shaw, and Branch that bad that they can't beat out Hebert or the guy that the coaches were afraid to put in (Williford) even though he has been practicing at the position and is the stated backup. Faulk and Shaw were highly recruited, I know we have them at tackle, but can't they be converted to play guard? or were they just highly overrated? or move Hurst inside.

Branch is the next best guard. They should play him at RG--easier and better transtion than moving a true center who is underweight and recovering from a busted leg.

Agree that surely among Shaw, Faulk and Branch, that I forgot earlier, one of those can show the coaches they are ready, if the staff does not have confidence in JW. I do not know if we can trust Stud to make the right decision, based on last year, and just hope one of those big guys can really step forward so we're not stuck with mediocrity at best with T-Bob.

Maybe T-Bob was just inserted because he has experience and it was a spur of the moment decision.
that's what my thought was.

no reason to throw a new guy into the fire completely unprepared

Wiliford was put in for 2 plays and got blown up both times. Besides that, he was very slow comming out of his stance which is a mortal sin for a lineman. Ridley got nailed for a loss and then T-Bob went back in. Sounds like it was a stop gap measure to fill a hole with a guy with experience. As a former lineman myself, I believe TBob didn't do horribly. It just takes some time to get used to a new spot and you have to learn to work in concert with the tackle beside you as well. That takes a game or two. Both of their timing was off on the trap plays and the pulling plays. All these things can work themselves out or maybe the younger guys will get up to speed fast enough and get in. IMO

all you negative posters are "bandwagon guys" & perceiving without isolating on Hebert every play from Saturday's peformance. He never ever took a snap at Guard in his life & his game was solid! We are lucky to have a flex guy like that.

I understand that TBob knows the plays and has the experience. But if our best option at Guard is an undersized backup center, then we have some real issues with our OL recruiting and/or player development. WTF is wrong with our OL?!

My only concern with having T-Bob at guard is that leaves us very shy at center. If the center goes down, we have no experienced back up to come in and play. Just look at the Florida game and see what can happen when you have a center that is not ready.

I'd like to see Faulk in at RT and Hurst at RG..it will make it an easy transition for Faulk next year when we lose Barksdale..

What a moronic statement! So, if I understand this correctly, you are saying that regardless of whether T-Bob actually committed a foul, you are going to hold a recalled touchdown against him?

It is that kind of shitty attitude that is rampant on this board. Why the frick do we even have a spring, summer, and fall camp? Obviously, no player in the world can get better. Let's just use the stats from last year and transpose them to this year, since, according to most, what happened last year will happen this year no matter what. No one improves.

Most of these T-Bob haters were on the bandwagon when we recruited him as one of the top centers in high school. Then they got on the T-Bob hate wagon as soon as it was cool to do so. Now they are testing the waters to see if it is OK to get back on the T-Bob love wagon. It is ridiculous. The kid played admirably in a tight spot on Saturday. He was light years better than Hitt last year, and in limited action, was markedly better than Williford.

Also, it seems like some of you have not been watching LSU football for very long. When it comes to injuries, there has often been one guy that was a "6th" man. He would sub at any spot on the OL. Ironically, this was usually the back up center, because, hold on to your sweater vest, the center has to know the assignment of every lineman on a particular play.

The only argument that holds water is the idea of switching Lonergan and T-Bob.

I agree with what you're saying, but isnt it a little worrying that we dont have any decent OL backups? Have the second string guards and tackles just not made any progress?

Tbob seemed awful last year, but he is likely better now, and being next to Hitt didnt help either. But damn, where's the beef??

Not trying to stir shite, but seriously, if T-Bob looks the way he did Saturday night for the rest of the season, will you be disappointed?

I thought he was a tad bit better than OK, but I understand your backhanded compliment.

Who in the hell in the SEC is going to have a better front seven than UNC had, even with their suspensions?

Alabama, probably. Florida, same level. Everyone else will be below what T-Bob faced Saturday, so that little terd of information is bullshite.

The only problem I see with tbob besides the fact that he should be playing rg at Dartmouth with size and weight is he gets beat pass protection he lunges forward with his head ably trying to get seperation as he should. Sorry typing from phone

size and weight

So these are the only qualifications to be an effective Offensive lineman?

what i don't get is how was it that Blackwell and Williford were supposedly in a heated battle for that starting guard spot or was that not really the case?
