went for lunch the other day...all you sweet sauce monjunie lovers will love the sweet red sauce....the Arancine was all rice and very little meat or spices.....TA just thought Gino's was bad....The GF, who loves the sweet sauce had the lasangna and loved it...also the meatballs were flowing and looked very good...if you like the red sauce....don't be in a rush because they are growing into a restaurant and service is slow...very few tables and the waitress is working very hard....oh.....the house dressing is fantastic(for you Gris)....I would really eat here a lot but alas....I am not a fan of the sweet red sauce....next time I will try the white.

I wonder if he's changed his recipe because Mark's sauce was never particularly "sweet" in his prior business incarnations.

well he was in the kitchen....I talked to him up front for a short while...I really don't remember his red sauce being that sweet either but I am someone who feels the red wine is all the sweetness I need in a red sauce... never sugar....so try it and make your own judgement.

Last time I had his spaghetti sauce was when he was in the abandoned ABE spot on G O'Neal, and I don't remember it being sweet either.

Where is this located? Mark owns it? I loved the old Maggio's at O'neal and George O'neal. But haven't found anything quite as good since Joey died. And the sauce was never sweet, that's a disappointment.

Thanks, Tim. I'll have to check it out just for the house dressing. I'm not a sweet red sauce fan. I can mix a sweet red and white together over cannelloni and enjoy it, though.

Where is his new place at?

I will have to check it out as he used to buy stuff from us and even bought at the seafood market. He plugged his place on my facebook page at least 50 times, I kid you not.

I guess I should know his location by now.

I agree 100%, but if I owned a restaurant I would likely add sugar. It seems commercially nothing can have to much fat or sugar to please the general public. Ergo, Asian dishes, prepared at home, low fat, low sugar, in a restaurant, diabetes and coronary killers.

Yeah I remember that at one time they had 2 sauces there Joeys and Maggios, Maggios was a very robust sauce and Joeys a little more on the sweet side but not near the sweetness of monjuines. Anyway I herd that Mark would get pissed when people ordered "joeys" sauce over his. So I am guessing he is trying to sweeten his up a bit and went overboard??

And I miss that sumbitch too

His sauce was the right amount of sweetness and his scampi was great too. Miss the old Maggio's with Joey cooking and Mark yelling at everyone. Good times.
