What you got? New to town and want to do a shrimp boil for tomorrow's game. Been to Whole Foods and Central Market. Both good, but expensive. I'm looking for something a little different.

Airline Seafood is an option inside the loop...as is J&R's seafood...consider Fiesta too...

Try out Mambo's Seafood. You maybe the only gringo in the place but shite is legit. They have a market too. Belly up to the Oyster Bar and get a shrimp coctel and michelada. Thank me later.
Oh don't forget to order their shrimp fried rice...best anywhere.

Houston has nothing comparable to Tony's in Baton Rouge. Surprised the hell out of me that a city this size and this close to the Gulf would be such a flaming dud when it comes to fresh seafood markets.
Depending on the size of your boil, you may want to consider driving to Seabrook (across from the Kemah Boardwalk) for your next one. There are about 5 different seafood markets all within walking distance of each other. So you can just show up with an ice chest and shop around for the best prices, and best sizes.
During crawfish season, this will be the best place to get jumbo select crawfish at the cheapest prices around, along with hand-selecting blue crabs, and choosing from the biggest variety of shrimp you can find. What the hell, grab some fresh oysters while you're at it.
Definitely worth the drive for buying bulk seafood.

Go to Rose's in Kemah, less than an hour from downtown

Sure we do, they are all in Kemah.

I think you meant Seabrook.

You're one of those aren't you

Kemah. Cross the Bridge and there are several right there.
Don't go to Crazy Alan's beside the Kemah Marina. Overpriced and not very good for selection or freshness. I don't like the crappy cover bands that play at the attached bar/fry-shack either.
I was in Golden Friday and bought some shrimp. They sell live shrimp and croakers for fishing too. They have about anything you could want. Blue Crabs are everywhere at this point...and I believe I saw little neck clams. No Oysters until Nov 1st. I like Golden and Roses.

One of those who suggests a place and then reads a response by someone who tries to tell me I'm wrong by suggesting the same place by incorrectly identifying it? Yeah, I guess I'm one of those.
I [heart] accuracy. Guilty.
When I first moved here, Houstonians recommended I drive down to Kemah to find good seafood markets. They described an area near the Kemah bridge, but they kept emphasizing Kemah. So I made the drive and wasted 30 minutes before one of the locals told me that they have never understood why Houstonians do that. I swore I would never be one of those people that misled fellow Louisianians about where to get good fresh seafood at low prices. This meant I had to refer to Seabrook, not Kemah to avoid letting good people waste their time due to lazy directions.

Here's another suggestion from a Houstonian...stop being a fricking tedious cocksucker.

I didn't expect such sensitivity on this board. I'm guessing your friends have learned to never rely on you for directions. I've already learned to doubt any advice you provide, and I'm sure most others have picked up on that as well.

Because it's all part of the same suburban sprawl and most inner-loopers despise it.
