I am somewhat confuse about his progression or should I say the lack of there of!! JJ is not a bad QB but he does has to step it up. I still have faith in his abilities and think he will get the job done. we have a lot of new players and I don't know what to expect from them but I don't think JJ will be a failure. If this team don't do well it will not be JJ fault.

JJ needs to be aware of the chains and get the ball beyond them. Along with the OC, its the QB's responsibility. We know JJ can complete passes, but he has to make sure the chains are moving.

I don't doubt the physical ability its the mental side that makes me worry. Time to step it up or time to step to the side. Personally I think JJ gonna step it up!!!

I watched some several games I had DVRD and I don't understand why he drops back so damn far. How can he throw to a reciever right at his break when he is still moving backwards?

Look the bottom line is, if JJ don't take as many sacks as he did last year you guys would not be writing negative things about him! If you go back and look at the stats of all the LSU Qbs from 1990 til now there are only mabe 3 Qbs with better stats than him, and they were all upper classman, so give the kid a break! I'm telling you all you busters will be on his sack when he does well this year mark my words!!!

Jordan Jefferson is a below average SEC QB and will never be any better. In two years have you ever seen him throw the ball before a receiver comes out of his break. He doesn't get sacked because of an inability to step up in the pocket, he gets sacked because of a phobia to hold the ball until a receiver is wide open and that doesn't happen often. A receiver is open for a split second and then the gap closes, BINGO. Unfortunately he is the best we have unless the Z man stays.

you say JJ is below average, name 6 qb's that start in the SEC better.

I can name maybe three or four if you count masoli but that is a question mark.

Sure all little JJ needs to do is throw touchdowns and not interceptions, simple as that. BTW his mechanics have gotten worse, should be an interesting 8-4 season

What bothers me is Saturday he throws an INT and seems not to be able to know when to or when not to throw the ball. I believe that was his problem last year and I was hoping that he had gotten through that over the summer but appearantly not.

I have faith that the team as a whole will do what it takes to have a special season. The thing is, is how it is done and with whom. There is simply to much talent not to have it. It will not be depended on any one player and to me that is the key.

JJ will be Just fine I think the coaches will finally come up with a scheme that works in his favor instead of tryin to throw the ball down the field every other play.... With a solid ground game and some play action involved Jefferson should work well with this... If the coaches can see that when the run is working stick with it instead if stalling drives by trying to throw deep and loosing momentum in drives the tigers in a whole will be much better, and I think they have finally opened their eyes and will show that this year just watch the Purple and gold will shine this year!!!!!! We are very underrated and I feel like we will play as hard as we did the 03-04 season!!!!!

It's easy. Jefferson currently has the reigns & i believe Miles will allow him to guide the offense. If he stalls out the offense i would hope JL gets a fair chance to compete. Use JJ like a starting pitcher & JL like a bull pen pitcher.

Agree.

Neither of them have matured into a complete QB and they've both had ample opportunities. Using both regularly could work around their weaknesses and play to their respective strengths (whatever those are).

He wasn't awful last year, just a bit indecisive at times and didn't throw the ball away enough. It was his first full year with a terrible OL. I'll wait to see how he does this year with a (hopefully) improved OL before I give a thumbs up or down.

I am currently watching the Cap One Bowl and I have one question for this thread; WHAT POCKET ????

Slow down offensive plays with your DVR and tell me where you see a "pocket" , EVER. PSU is rushing four and five and our OL totally collapsed. Maybe JJ should be better at picking out better escape routes from behind the mass of bodies, but stepping up in a non existing pocket means nothing. On the flip side, we rush six at Daryll Clark and he has a well defined semi-circular "pocket" to throw from to unleash a shitty pass that was caught for a 23 yd first down. As I watch on, it ain't changing.... Clark consistently has a pocket while JJ has bodies flying at him left and right, no matter how many rushers.

It's the OL, dummies.

Yeah, I don't really think he's below average. He's about an average QB in the SEC with all things considered so far. He also missed a game against a weak opponent when looking at numbers.

Last year, JJ was at least better than Snead at Ole Miss, State's QB, Kentucky's QB, Vandy's QB and Garcia at South Carolina.

JJ was probably about even with somebody like Cox at Georgia.

I think Crompton from Tenn. was a little better than JJ. He had about 100 more attempts than JJ. Still, I think he was a little better. McElroy was probably just a little better as well (though he had a hell of a running game behind him, so they are hard to compare). I think Chris Todd at Auburn was possibly a little better even though JJ outperformed him when we played and killed them.

Tebow & Mallet were clearly superior.

JJ's big issue is the amount of sacks. He has to improve that (and how long the sack losses are).

But I'd say JJ was right with that second tier of QBs last year in the SEC after Tebow/Mallet. He's much better than most with making plays with his feet as well.
