In the interest of keeping traffic up on the board, and mainly because I keep switching out my picks and having second thoughts about my team, I figured I'd start a thread devoted to fantasy discussion.

A few topics to begin with (mainly because they concern my team):

- Is Joe Cole worth the 9mil for a pickup? He's an attacking minded mid (I believe) next to another attacking minded mid in Gerrard.

- Is it smarter to field a 3-5-2 over a 4-4-2?

- Will gerrard be worth his 11.5mil?

- Who is going to make the most noise/points at each position? Basically who is the "must have" player?

If we're talking the Barclays Premier Official game, then the big points come from attacking midfielders, the big names (Lampard, Gerrard, Fabregas) will usually pay off and if one gets injured it's not hard to switch to one of the others. However there's a lot of value to be had further down, Parker is a bargain at only 5.5, Malouda and Arshavin are also worth looking at. Up front it's different, the best value tends to be in lower priced players, i.e. Bent, Rodallega, Crouch

I embraced that philosophy. I have Fabregas and Gerrard and playing with 5 mids (others are Etherington, N'Zogbia, and Bowyer. I thought about switching out someone for Milner but went with Rooney instead up top. Should I spend that money on another good mid like Cole/Milner?

Yeah I went with Newcastle's #1 guy, can't remember his name, Doyle for Wolves, and like I said Rooney. I figured Rooney was worth the investment and with a lineup that had Gerrard, Roo, and Fab I couldn't go wrong. Thats an arse ton of points.

I think there is much better midfield value than Cole. Midfielders get most of your points b/c they get points for scoring and defending. Cole won't score enough goals, IMHO.

I think it's always safe to get one big value midfielder (Gerrard, Lampard, Fabregas, etc) b/c they'll either get you big points or you can drop them, pick up a ton of cap space, and pick up a guy who's increasing in value (Malouda last year, for example)

If Arteta is healthy he should be a great value.

Well potentially I could have Fabregas, Gerrard, and Lampard all together. My forwards wouldn't be worth a damn and my fullbacks would be just above average. But thats a hell of a midfield. Should I run with that or just keep what I have with Rooney up top? Lampard's 284 points to Roo's 224 would indicate thats probably the best option. Unfortunately my 4th mid/3rd Fullback would have to drop off from the value they are now to make up the difference in money (Rooney is 12 and Lampard is 13).

I like to get forwards b/c they are guaranteed points. At least one big one, maybe 2, with one cheap option to pick up scrap points.

Then I like to get 4 midfielders who will be the offensive spark of their sides. I'm banking on Cesc leaving, so I went with Nasri.

If Cesc leaves and Nasri ends up being Arsenal's midfield general I'll be more than happy. Cesc is 12 and Nasri is 7.5. I'd be netting 4.5mil by swiching out the main man for the same team. Is it looking Like Nasri will play that much of a part in Arsenals attack if Fab peaces out?
