Anyone catch the special on KISS called Kissteria last night on A&E? It was pretty awesome, how they decided at midnight to go tour Australia and informed their manager, and then one week later they were in Australia going from city to city performing in concert with very little notice.

I missed that one. I did notice though, that they are doing Gene Simmons: Family Jewels marathons damn near every day.

Still a favorite.

By the way, Gene Simmons would laugh at your comment if he wasn't busy counting his money.

Agreed. Listening to KISS was for little kids, and now they've grown up and thought it was cool. They are the Wiggles with better marketing.

Please. KISS = great. Lots of filler, but legitimately dozens of really solid rock songs along with probably at least 5 legitimate classics.

KISS is greatness.

Any band that has been around 35 years and can still sell out arenas is awesome.

Stones can do that.....hmmm...name another one.

And who doesnt know "rock and roll all night"! Everyone!

What was amazing to me watching this show last night was that they would play a concert in Melbourne, Australia and afterwards Paul Stanley would say how awesome it was, and then tell their manager "Let's go to Brisbane" and within a day or two they were in Brisbane setting up for a concert...no planning, just bounce from city to city hauling their stage equipment and everything...after one of their shows, the drummer Eric hooked up with a girl from New Zealand and they couldn't find him the next morning. When they called him he said he had gone to New Zealand with this girl and there was some kind of music fest going on there and they wanted KISS...so the rest of the band and crew fly to New Zealand and put on a concert (for 1 million dollars, I think they had mentioned)...this to me was incredible.

Kiss will still be selling out shows to mullet-headed morons. It is such a cynical band dedicated to nothing more than fleecing its fanbase. Whoever brought up PT Barnum is right. They will do anything for a dollar. I have no problem with artists making money. In fact, I want them to make money. But Kiss is just so crass in their exploitation of the public in order to squeeze one more dollar from them.

And their music fricking sucks. I'm usually a big fan of you like what you like, but Kiss really pisses me off. They are to music what Jersey Shore is to current TV. It's just garbage with absoutely no merit.

Good christ, is this overly harsh.

Have you ever even heard Hard Luck Woman It's a great little ditty from 1976 - good acoustic work, cool walking bass line, great melody. Better than 99% of the pop being put out today.

Have you ever heard Detroit Rock City? You just don't like rock n roll if you don't see the merit in that song. The topic is really cool too - KISS fans who died on the way to a KISS concert.

How can you not acknowledge the merit of rock anthems? Rock n Roll All Night? I Love it Loud?

Or how about the ballad Forever from 1989? A little formulaic, but really awesome acoustic solo by the brilliant Bruce Kulick.

Then there's the evil God of Thunder.
Granted, the production is lousy, but the song is fricking eerie and awesome. Live, it's even better.

I get it if you don't like them overall, but to act like they put nothing good out is simply unfair. They've written more great songs than the next youtube wonder could ever hope to even think about writing.
