so I couldn't watch the game, only listened to it on the radio, but was it a good decision to take Gomez out? it seemed to me he had 2 or 3 good chances in the first half and was playing pretty well. but of course watching is alot different than listening.

he had a few nice chances. he is not afraid to shoot that's for sure. he probably ran out of gas. he was all over the place in the 1st half. even dropping back in defense a few times.

Yeah Gomez was willing to track back to our touchline. I loved his effort.

thats cool, i can't remember the time now, but it seemed like he was pulled rather eary. if he was all over the field though, he probably did run out of gas.

It was a weird decision at the time, but it payed off. Deuce, Donovan, and Bradley are untouchable, as is Altidore, so the only guys who could have been taken off were either Edu or Gomez. Gomez made more sense.

Feilhaber was really a great player today, so it was well worth it, but Gomez did a pretty solid job in my opinion.

then you need to watch more closely. Jozy hammered their defense all game long, and frustated them to no end. It set up many of Feilhaber's beautiful runs through their D.

while this was one of his better games, he constantly tries to dribble two or more defenders while there are open passes to be had, he rushes his shots, telegraphs his passes, doesn't move well to open spaces, turns with the ball at his foot into the defender and plays like a young kid would an such a big stage.

He will probably be the future face of american soccer, but he still has a ways to go.

I remember the announcers were discussing that Gomez was replaced to give us a little more D up the middle. We were starting to get a bit soft there at the end of the first half. As for Josey, He was strong at holding the ball against 2 or 3 defenders while he gave his midfielders time to move up to help. That was huge.

this is very true, gomez had back tracked a bunch and just ran out of gas.

and agian, jozy was much better today and he did have his moments not only creating some confusion for their defenders, but holding the ball osme as well, but he still made multiple basic decision making mistakes that will only improve with time.

Gomez was a good 1st half spark though

It seems like the plan all along was for Gomez to give us "the best 45 minutes he had". I think it was pre-determined that he would be subbed for.

I'm with you on that, and he filled his role well
