The sec becomes a 16 team conference.

It gets the best of the big 12.

It becomes the undisputed best conference in football.

It becomes possibly the richest conference in football.

It can split into east and west divisions and still maintain the ability for many fans to travel to the games.

It remains regional.

The new teams come already with rivalries

more than A&M even - texas doesn't want that

A&M would benefit from separating themselves from Texas if only they came to teh SEC - but Texas has been pretty steadily against the notion of joining teh SEC

It's the fact that all of the schools, excluding aTm, are scared. Plain in simple.

The Texas president is a Cal alum and, right or wrong, is convinced that Texas will greatly benefit on many levels by being in a conference with Cal and Stanford. If Texas leaves, it is going to the Pac 10/16 come hell or high water.

Really the same reason I don't want a PAC 16 mega-conference: loss of regional identity and domination by one conference.

makes it more difficult to win a National Title when everyone in the conference has 2-3 losses

somewhat

I hope we add no one to the conference. There is no way A&M will turn into any bigger of a rival than Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida, etc. They will only hurt us in recruiting

you must be young....

A&M was a much bigger rival for LSU than Auburn or Florida ever were.

For us who were around during the '60s, this is true.
