I heard on a local show yesterday that Miles and co expected Zach Lee to be on campus today with the rest of the freshmen for summer conditioning and summer school!

Now, I must preface this by saying this was before he was drafted in the first round last night and I would think that he would not report like thought yesterday afternoon.

But, lets just say that today he is on campus and he makes it to a class. Correct me if I am wrong but if he sit through his first class then he is untouchable by MLB until his junior year or he turns 21.

Sounds good buy if he's just coming for conditioning that wouldn't be a big deal. He needs to stay in shape and might wanna get a taste of college football to see if he likes it.

Not if he is on a football scholarship. I would think if he were on a baseball scholarship, that might be the case.

Don't know the MLB rules, but in order to go through conditioning with the football team, he must be enrolled as a student.

No, if he is on any form of baseball aid that means he counts towards football's limit of 85 just as if he received a full ride from football. But he can certainly play both sports.

You're right.

Which means baseball, in effect, forfeits a scholarship. Since he counts against the 85 limit for football, it would mean LSU would burn two scholarships for one student.

I don't think going to class has anything to do with it anymore now that there is a uniform signing date.

I think that's right. August 15th is D-Day, regardless of if he's gone to class or not.

you sure about that? i remember hearing on a local radio show last year that miles kept both jones and mitchell on scholarship which freed up 2 spots for baseball players. mainieri wanted to give him jones but keep mitchell b/c mitchell was focusing more on football. miles kept him anyway.

correct. keeps a school from using baseball scholarships to go over the 85 and 25/28.

Wrong that just means his eligibility has started meaning if he signs baseball his 5 to play 4 has started and does not stop just because he goes MLB.

His Baseball at LSU is over but Football is still in play 5 to 4 if he goes baseball for 2 years he still has 3 to play at LSU and so on
