Insurance Question

Call me dumb for asking, I don't care, but -
Is there any way that homeowners insurance companies will try to increase policy costs for the average person in southern Louisiana who is going to renew soon?
Insurance is all about risk, so I have to wonder if this disaster combined with the timing of hurricane season will equal more risk in their eyes?

In other words - no costs to pass along to policyholders?

I would think but increase in prices is not always tied to increase in costs.

Believe me, the people in New Orleans know this better than anyone in the universe!

you mean no payouts from your insurance? which is understandable
or no payouts from anybody? BP should be stepping up and if not the people need to raise holy hell towards BP

Oil is considered a pollutant, and pollution is usually excluded from HO policies. BP would be responsible for any oil damage.
