I'd go but I doubt NO could sustain a MLS team.

We would need to have a large number of Honduran players.

In a word...no. The soccer community in Louisiana isn't large enough to support a club in New Orleans. The Hornets can barely fill the NO Arena even when they are doing well.
MLS clubs do well in cities with few successful pro teams and large youth soccer programs. Seattle and Columbus have done this format well. Houston does well attendance wise because of a large Hispanic community coupled with Houston sports teams being crappy.
They would also need a soccer specific stadium within five years of their inaugural season. Fans and players don't want to see and play soccer on FieldTurf and in cavernous, quarter-filled American football stadiums.

no, we could even sell out 5,000 seat pan am stadium with the riverboa gamblers back in the day.
but gettting honduran players would help.

It's true. The MLS doesn't get the respect it deserves and people in NOLA wouldn't take it as seriously as they should. Sadly, people see the MLS as almost like a AAA league around here, which is bullshite, considering it's the premier American soccer league.

I would frickin love it. Then again I love Treme.

the mls is the third largest attended sports league in the us

Ron, what MLS club gave you a job?

Not sure about N.O. specifically, but I would love an MLS team in the Southeast.

And yet, no one seems to take it seriously. You go to Houston and hear OMG, STROS, TEXANS, ROCKETS, and yet, they have a two-time champion (in the last 5 years I might add) Dynamo there and you rarely hear shite about it.
There's quality soccer being played in the US and people don't take notice because they're too busy bashing it for being an international sport.

It's also not on T.V. enough. ESPN seems to be fixing that, though.

I was really excited to see them put up matches definitely. They need to just like devote some time to "explain the game" so people stop bitching about not understanding.

First off I would love for New Orleans to have a team I'd be the first to buy season tickets. But no chance New Orleans could support a MLS team yet.
First, there would need to be a USL1 or 2 team first to prove NOLA could be a viable city for MLS, before anyone would drop millions on an unproven organization.
I just don't see Nola gettiing a team for the next 15-20 years

I'm not so certain...The Leafs own the Raptors and Toronto FC maybe a strategic partnership with the Saints or New Owners of the Hornets might make it work....

The Spurs in San Antonio own the WNBA team and the AHL hockey club, and have expressed interest in a USL soccer club (with potential to move up to MLS).
MLS is a quality league, but whenever one players makes a mistake everyone wants to rip the league.

I think unlike the NHL MLS has handled expansion very professionally and only awarding a franchise after exhaustive due diligence...I think an MLS team would compliment the owners of the saints or Hornets....

True, but there are many, many factors that contribute to this, not necessarily related to the league's overall popularity. It's still without a doubt 5th on the American sports radar. Growing, though.
