He went 6.1 innings against us. But he also hit a grand slam against us as well. Gave up 9 hits and 2 earned runs.

What will be interesting to see is if they pitch him and bat him since they have the new time limit.

More I think about it that has to be an advantage for LSU if they allow him to bat. 20 seconds between pitches and 108 seconds between innings and your pitcher was just running the basepath?

Thats a good point. I am curious to see what kind of effect the new pitch time rule (I think its 20 sec. between pitches?) will have. I don't see it ending well for some of the pitchers out there.

Its really not that different from the current rule, maybe they'll just enforce it now

They do not say in the article I read about rules for the batter?

Do they have any? What is the purpose of 20 secs on the pitcher if the batter can keep stepping out? Imagine the games you can play with a speedy runner on first in a steal situation..

What is the current rule?

BTW just looked it up the 20 seconds only begins with no runner on base.

Batter has to be ready at the 15 sec mark or he gets a strike.

Not sure exactly, but its something similar, its just rarely enforced. I doubt that part of the rule will come into effect much, the catcher getting to and from the dugout may though

Looking at the rule book they have a section with PACE of play. Saying that they are concerned about it but ultimately decided to just reinforce several rules already in place for 09 and 2010.

One says continued enforecment of time limits on which the pitcher must pitch with no runners on base.

(I cant find what that limit was though??)

If the clock expires, will the pitch count as a ball? What is the penalty?

That's what someone said in a thread a day or so ago. And if I remember correct the batter can not ask for time once the clock hits 5 secs.

The batter has to ask for time and just cannot step out. The umpire must use discrection to see if he thinks time should be called.

I have a SEC appendex of the clock rules, but I'm in hotel with no way to scan it online.
