What about Patrick Peterson as a kick/punt returner?

Keep PP off the field during special teams. We need him on defense and it would be stupid to risk an injury to arguably our best player.

For an alternative, how about Jakhari Gore?

I like the R.S. suggestion as well. He's too talented not to have any touches in a ball game. Probably a better instinctive runner as well.

I'm still sticking by Russell Shepard being a GREAT KR/PR if we teach him how to field them. Dude has more wiggle than anyone else on our team and might be Top 3 in fastest.

Couldn't agree more....

Stupid post. IMHO...

Sorry, but anybody remeber what happened in the Alabama game when he went out with cramps?

We all agree about PP. No reason to risk injury on Special teams and keep him rested as we can for defense.

We have plenty of atletes capable of returning punts and kicks.

All I'm saying is that if he's arguably our best player I want the ball in his hands. I don't like the injury talk its coaching scared if you ask me.

As far as J. Gore I honestly haven't done my homework on him yet and don't know much about him. I'm glad he's a Tiger though.

It's coaching smart. Getting collided with full speed 5 times a game is always asking for injury. There's absolutely no reason to risk that with a shutdown corner who, if hurt, puts us in a serious hole at CB.

Yall are stupid

Peterson is our best player, you use him as much as you can, you dont say oh well he might get hurt...

Charles woodson did it, Javier arenas, among others

That is very true about the CB depth issue. He just looks like a stud when he returns those ints!

i hate this "let's not risk getting hurt" crap. it's football. y'all do realize we had our starting running backs, kevin faulk and domanick davis, return punts. alabama used their best DB, javier arenas. florida has used percy harvin. plenty of schools use their best player as return men. why? BECAUSE THEY'RE THE BEST RETURN MEN ON THE TEAM. hell, michael clayton used to play on punt coverage. this risking injury talk is so ridiculous. you play the best players where they're needed, and having a good returner that can give us better field position would help immensely

I though Trindon Holiday was returning punts?

Exactly

he could break his leg on his first play in defense, he could break his leg on his first punt return, he could also be an all-american punt returner and give lsu a great threat back there

Wasn't their best DB. He was more of a return guy playing corner than the other way around. Arenas was a decent corner, but nothing shutdown or anythnig like that.

It's almost like people forget the times Trindon Holliday got banged up returning kicks/punts and missed some time. Would some of you be willing Peterson miss a game or two because he gets injured returning kicks/punts? We could afford it with Holliday because he was used minimally on offense. Peterson is our starting corner and only one that has proven to be really good.

ok, when he gets drafted in the first two rounds, what will you say then. he also had 70 tackles and 5 picks this year. you're right he wasn't very good. btw, what about faulk, davis, and harvin. care to elaborate on those guys? they weren't very valuable to those teams either right? try to come up with a better argument before you post next time.
