I think he takes too much flack for his "lack of recruiting."

There's been quite a few updates provided this week about players who have been recruited by Chavis and how he's working on the recruiting trail.

I think the notion that he coordinates and doesn't recruit (Gary Crowton style) is a bit misleading.

Maybe he has turned over a new leaf, but when he was at UT Chavis recruiting was as big a myth as Fulmer dieting.

Which I believe is where this reputation developed (fairly or unfairly), but of late I've seen his name with a lot of prospects and how he's out working hard to recruit them.

He was the reason Jacques Smith was interested and he is the reason we have a realistic shot at Justin Parker.I think he's doing fine.

I feel bad for Chief, he will probably be fired after this season with the rest of the LSU staff after they lose five games, and really, he is going to be the last person anyone can blame.

Well, since he got a big raise, he better get off his arse and recruit with that bloated salary.

You need to worry about the Vols, Jack.

Really, his salary is none of our business. The defensive performance is.

The big Chief is not known for his recruiting, but he is the reason we are going to sign a couple of linemen that might surprise you!! (although he tried hard Smith won't be one of them.)
