at the last minute because he said he wants to coach one day and Kiffin would be a great mentor? I guess now Welsh HS would be able to use his expertise as a Def. Coordinator

I believe he was an LSU committment that didn't sign and then signed with TN .... but there was a lot of story involving his Dad being on Kiffin's staff in the next year or so, etc.

I certainly never heard anything about him thinking Kiffin was a mentor.

I did. Said he wanted to be a coach someday and that he could learn alot from Layne

FYI, I feel for all those kids who got scammed by a grown man. NCAA treats them like a piece of meat while the coach can do whatever

I wonder if JJ's dad feels bad using his son for his own coaching platform only to find out his son's coach jets on him.

Karma is a bitch.

Said he wanted to learn defense from Monte and compliance from Lane.

Free education?? and...do you not see the problem if you let 85 kids out of a scholarship w/ no consequences. There is enough going on right now w/ high school kids switching schools w/o even beginning to think what would happen if any player from usc / tenn / tex tech / usf / fsu etc.... could transfer anywhere they choose

"I think (the decision) all came down to the (defensive) coaches leaving at LSU and Tennessee getting Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron and Frank Wilson (as coaches),’’ said Lance Guidry, Jackson’s father and soon-to-be defensive backs coach at Miami of Ohio. "Then when Monte Kiffin got there (as defensive coordinator), that really sealed the deal.’’

Tennessee assistants Orgeron and Wilson have known Jackson since his sophomore year when they offered him a scholarship to Ole Miss, Guidry said. Orgeron, the former Ole Miss head coach, now serves as assistant head coach, recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach at Tennessee while Wilson, former head coach at O. Perry Walker, is the Volunteers wide receivers coach.

Monte Kiffin was his son Lane’s first hire and was quickly followed by the addition of Orgeron.

"Janzen wants to be a coach,’’ Guidry, who coached this past season at McNeese State and formerly was head coach at Carencro, said. "He’s wanted to be a college coach his whole life. He knows that he’ll be learning from the best. He knows that he could have a coaching job there (at Tennessee) some day, as an assistant or maybe as a graduate assistant. So it was a career decision also, not just a playing decision.’’

where did I say any of that?

Some posters said JJ got what he deserved which I think is a joke.

Coach was there one year. The players he recruited for that one year should be able to transfer if they choose without penalty.

If the coach has been there 5/10 years different deal IMO, one year is slimy and extremely rare

Which is why kids need to learn there are consequences to their decisions. Jantzen just got a big boom, to his first adult decision. And since he used it to frick LSU over (lost a slot for another player), good for him.

get JJ to tranfer to LSU then keep him on the bench, forever. That would be a good lesson

Actually, it was worse than that.

He stayed "committed" to LSU, then "decided" AFTER NSD that he was going to UT.

When the story finally came out, JJ had informed Kiffin of his commitment to UT, but Kiffin asked he and his father to keep it a secret in order to really stick it to LSU. They obliged, and the rest is now history.

Everyone got screwed on that one: First, LSU. Second, Kiffin when JJ was arrested, but then magically "let off the hook". Third JJ's dad, and now, JJ.

Looks like LSU came out the winner in the end. The little thug is in a good place: Uthug.

One of the more interesting rumors is that JJ will transfer to USC, sit out next year and still have 3 years of eligibility left.

I remember that, it really pissed me off. JJ got exactly what he deserves

They kept it a secret because Kiffin didn't want another safety recruit (Myles) to switch his commitment.

Don't forget the unknown kid who got screwed out of a scholarship at LSU because the JJ lied and decided not to fax his LOI to LSU on signing day. He and Kiffin are of the same ilk. Its just like McKnight and Curtis playing us for the media attention and us losing a scholarship waiting on a kid who knew he was going to USC for months before the hat trick. Karma caught up with both!
